So, Sylvanas has died before and been brought back – but when she died, where did she go? Did her soul not go to the Shadowlands then? Was the realm of torment that she was in after Wrath of the Lich King when she threw herself off the precipice actually the Maw?

With the relevations of the sub types in the shadowlands, i think it’s pretty safe to assume she went to The Maw.

It depends. Souls go before the Arbiter to be judged as to where they should be placed. If the souls are aware during this process then Sylvanas went to the Maw, as she never mentioned seeing or hearing the Arbiter and this means souls have been pouring into the Maw for a while now. If the souls aren’t aware while being judged then she could have ended up anywhere.
Ion said nobody has ever escaped the Maw, but if she went there then technically she did via the Val’kyr taking her place.

I am wondering about this! When did the Maw start sucking up all the souls of the dead? I would like to get a timeline on this because we see Kael’Thas in Revendreth and he died in BC, so was it from WotLK onwards the Maw has been sucking up souls?
Literally everything he said actually happened. It was objectively true. She did kill her own people in Arathi, she did start a war for us to kill each other, and she did try to enslave the Val’kyr in Stormheim… have you even played the game?
