Seems impossible to find an RP-PvE guild. Even the amount of traditional RP guilds is low. I would think with new expansion launch there would be tons of guilds trying to recruit right now. Is it just the forums that are quiet? I remember posts competing for bumps constantly back in the day. Even trade chat in game is quiet. Do RPers just communicate in Discord now? Is guild RP dying off?

I would say a lot of it has moved to Discord over the main forums. It doesnât help that the ârulesâ for the forums are very tough to be able to post images and links, so advertising just works better in Discord. But I still see plenty of the old names and new alike in terms of guilds and there are multiple recruitment style fairs a month as well, for alliance side.
Theyâre all on Discord. Good look finding them, only the same 3-4 ever advertise on the main Moon Guard Discord hubs.
What kinda guilds ya seekinâ pal? I think the forums have deffo shifted to this style, say what youâre seeking or a style you have in mind and those of us who remember our login to this dusty archive can pass on some sage-ish advice!
a lot are in discord, however you can also check in the guild finder.
my guess is people are busy doing fresh xpac things, and passively recruiting. thats what we are doing for the most part. busy levelling and refreshing our recruiting thing on the guild finder.

Where the guilds, where the guilds, where the guilds at?!
Discord is very much part of the overall community, not just raiding guilds. A lot of traditional RP guilds host their guild chat on Discord so everyone can access it even when not in game and/or on different time zones! It has been super helpful.
Guild RP is definitely not dying off from my perspective, nor are traditional RP guilds. Would love to see some examples from someone who has a different perspective.
When you say RP-PVE, do you mean a RP guild that does some PVE or a PVE guild that does some RP? It has always been a tough balance to get 50/50!
As someone who has profound hearing loss, I despise Discord. I know it has text chat functionality, but why would I be playing a game and then having to tab out constantly to type something in a third-party website/app?
One more reason I dropped RP/guilds.
As someone who wears hearing aids, I understand why discord can be frustrating. Most RP guilds that I know however do not require you to use voice chat, what they want is to be able to communicate events, guild rules, combat guides, etc. They also want to offer people a place to socialize, outside the game. Itâs a great way to build bonds between players and some guilds even offer you a chance to RP in Discord so that you donât always have to be in-game to get your RP on.
Iâm sure any reasonable guild leader would understand if you had concerns about voice chat due to your hearing.
I should stop trying to post on my phone vs a PC because that never works out well.
I have no interest in sitting in a third party app when Iâm trying to play a game just to talk to guildmates. I also have zero interest in being in an app when Iâm NOT playing games, because frankly? Iâm busy with adult stuff like working, kids, a spouse, etc. Iâm not glued to my phone at all and donât want to be. My gaming time is GAMING time and outside of that I donât even have a thought about it because Iâve got stuff to do. So no bonding would occur as I donât socialize with people IN game OUTSIDE of that game. Sorry, yaâll just arenât that important to me I guess 
Also, most RP guilds are dice-heavy and event heavy, a style Iâm not particularly fond of at all, nor do I have time for it.
I donât do hardcore PVE or PVP anymore, so no reason to join a guild revolving around that (and those guilds DO require voice chat).
Iâm not looking for a guild anyway. Iâve no interest in one. Discord isnât even the main reason but itâs one of them â regardless, itâs another âyeah, not going to botherâ to put on the pile. I like to play solo these days, but unless OP digs around in Discord, theyâre going to have a hard time finding these guilds. Is what it is.
For someone who only plays a few weeks out of every expansion and who seems to have absolutely zero interest in the game or the RP community, you sure do seem keen on expending a lot of thought and energy into these negative and critical forum posts.

Iâm not really into the discord/forums guild scene. Nothing against them, but I donât enjoy the gamified dice-based systems and over-arching epic campaigns that are currently popular so theyâre just not for me.
Surprisingly, Iâve had really good luck with the in-game guild finder. It is a hot mess and itâs not a fun process, but itâs what helped me find a guild that suited me perfectly.
If you go this route, keywords are your friend. Apply to several that seem like they might fit your character. Look up the guild in the armory and maybe do an in-game search to see if theyâre active during your playtimes. Donât just ask to join. Ask to be contacted in game so you can ask questions. I looked on several characters and would get contacted about 1/4 of the time.
I think this method works for me because Iâm very much an âeverything in gameâ player and it shows that the GMs are online in game, paying attention, and willing to reach out. This is how Iâve found the more of the âold schoolâ rp guilds.
Yeah itâs kinda fun. I definitely prefer forums to Discord, and Iâm only here another 2 weeks before my sub is out, so Iâm going to post about stuff.

I am not a big discord user and it is also taking me longer than normal to find a rp-pve guild. I am sure I will find one, but itâs definitely not feeling as easy as it was a few years ago (the last time I looked)

Cross realm LFG/LFR made guilds unnecessary for a lot of players.
I prefer playing with guild members I know. Some people donât mind LFG.
More solo-able content + LFG is why guilds arenât as important as they used to be.
