Get a second screen.
LOL Iām not getting a second screen to sit around in Discord (and doesnāt change the fact I despise Discord and literally canāt do voice chat because of my hearing issues) thatās insane. Instead, Iāll happily continue to solo until I get bored of the game and then Iāll go play something else. Same as Iāve been doing for almost a decade now.
Just thought Iād pop in here and let you all know that my guild is recruiting. House Graymoore is an RP- PvX guild.
We are good aligned and Light based Stormwind noble house. Our RP has themes of adventure, intrigue and diplomacy.
We are forming groups for M+ and RBGs. We do not raid. Contact me ingame for more info.
We do use Discord, but itās mostly for OOC communication. We do all of our RP in game.
A bit of a random insert from me, but this sounds interesting to me. If itās alright with you, I might give you a nudge in-game if I can find you online.
Sometimes guild finder doesnāt update well and thereās a lot of dead guilds in the guild finder that havenāt updated in either months or years.
Usually recruitment faires are the better bet. Thatās usually when youāll see all of the guilds lined up looking for new people. Sometimes during the week youāll have people recruit between Mage Quarter and Cathedral District recruiting. Other times in General - Stormwind as well. At least for Alliance side.
Personally I use my phone for discord communication and just have the overlay play over WoW. So when I get a ding from someone, I pull my phone from where itās charging and respond to messages that way. I find it easier to use than trying to alt + tab or finding a second screen when I donāt have a desk to speak of. I play on my laptop on my bed.
The Grand Alliance Recruitment Fair is held monthly in the Valley of Heroes. Persefani hosts it and does a wonderful job of providing folks with information if they canāt find a guild present that they like. You can get more details here: Grand Alliance - Recruitment Fair - #93 by PersefanĆ-moon-guard
SCA also holds a recruitment too, on the last Sunday of the month as well.
Wait waitā¦ what does SCA mean in WoW? 'Cause now Iām wondering if thereās some kind of official/unofficial presence of the Society for Creative Anachronism on MG?
It stands for Stormwind Crown Association. Itās like Stormwind Law Project. Itās a political rp server project.
I like their idea better. Death to the SCA! A new SCA rises! Have an issue with itā¦
JOUST ME FOR IT, SQUIRE.
If youāre all still looking, Iād suggest contacting Mr. Prƶximus, he handles the raid team.
Itās not a perfect system for sure. My personal bank guild has been up for years even though I only put it in the guild finder one time to add my alts.
My experience with the guild fairs are that theyāre basically the same handful of guilds every time, and most of them are already advertising on the realm discords or the forums so theyāve not been useful to me personally. I do have friends who have found their perfect guilds there though, so I highly recommend checking them out.
Iāll be that guy and ask.
Several responses here say its all on discord, but for someone new to MG, Iād like to ask which discords specifically? Is there a forum post I missed listing discords or?
Hi there and welcome to MG! Below is a link to a lot of discord servers. While the thread is older now, most of them are still active. Itās possible that maybe some of the links have expired, so Iād just hit reply to the person who posted the link and ask for a new one, if thatās the case. You will also find that once you join a couple, most of them have an advertisement channel where other servers put their links, so you can jump off from there to find other servers! Hope this is helpful.
I managed to get stuck on WyrmRest Accord doing server shuffling over the years. Turns out that one is mostly a Horde Server. So itās very lonely for Alliance players. When they introduced Warbands, and various characters were connected cross servers, for some crazy reason I thought that meant we could play on whatever server we wanted to.
But you can! Off you have friends on battle net that you group with, join a group that is in raid finder for RP, or join a guild/community then you can rp with folks. For example the Free Seas community hosts a tavern night every Tuesday and we have folks from both MG and WRA show up weekly. And the Blackwater Company is cross server so we have players from both realms as well who show up frequently to our RP events.
So donāt despair! Find your friends or a guild and youāre all set.
WoW really needs a time zone conversion feature and maybe even a translator, since some folks arenāt English primary language and Iāve known folks to be on MG from Australia to South America.
Same reason people flock to Stormwind vs anywhere else, itās most convenient and has all the bells and whistles.
It amuses me that they made guilds cross faction and cross server and STILL didnāt even remove the language barrier of Orcish and commonā¦ how did they think that was gonna work?
You should be able to join a MG guild and have someone anchor you into SW or RP events. I do that for my WrA guild - we pull MG characters back over all the time.
