Where are all the engineers?

I’ve been trying to get my JC profession tool recrafted to level 5 for a couple months now. I never get any responses in Trade Chat. Any suggestions on how to get responses?

I’ve tried just submitting new orders and just blew through a lot of gold and mettle for more 3s and 4s.

They all swapped to Alchemy/Herbalism.

They need to CRZ trade orders, tons of people in Valdrakken but all from other, non-connected realms.

Think of this as an opportunity. Roll an Alt, level’m up and become an engineer. Think of the business you will have from other players.

I have an alt engineer but the recipe requires 19 renown with Valdrakken Accord. The alt is only like 3 renown. I guess I can start farming rep tokens on other toons.

The alt can make Level 5 green profession gear, so I think just need the recipe.

I’ve stuck with engie because it’s just what I’ve always been, I like my goggle transmogs, but yeah most people swapped off it I assume because it’s largely pretty useless low in the gold making potential. Goggle orders never come through because only engies can wear them and thus they’d just make them themselves, and people wanting wrists are few and far between.

The only reliable way to make gold as an engie is through the toys, which require a pretty decent amount of farming and rng.

I guess DF wasn’t very easy for engineers, 'eh?

First, I’m sorry you’re having this struggle.

I agree with your idea about expanding crafting orders to cross-server.
But first they need to fix the issue where people can spam orders with no mats and only offering 1g or less. Or add a way to filter orders to only show orders with all the mats included.

I am an engineer but never bother to look at public orders because it’s nothing but a bunch of requests for toys with no mats provided and offering between 1 and 10 gold.

I only went as far as making ducks. :robot::+1:

Leveling engie was probably the hardest to do, especially depending on how you spec. If you spec into armor your only way to level at a certain point was through crafting wrists for people, which really only happened with any significance on my server early in the xpac. I am trying to level it now on an alt and I’ve been hard stuck at 75 for a while with no way to level lol

The fishing rods have been pretty good.

Engineering isn’t exactly that useful compared to other professions outside of some neat conveniences and fun stuffs also well requires stuff from like all of the other professions so can be expensive without multiple alts

Yeah profession equipment is also decent, though the value of those as time has gone on has dropped off as it seems most people already have their gear.

Also farming for that schematic was a headache so I never did that one lol

I found aside from IWIN, engineering is completely unsatisfying. Not just the utter lack of essential items but the creation process is just, lame, craft this part to make that part and now you can craft your target item, but oh wait! You consumed your reagents crafting that part to make this reagent and on and on. Worst profession in DF hands down. I only keep it for the tinkers i use such as speed belt and parachute cloak and thats pretty much all its good for if you ask me.

Did you open explosives? The boxes get you skill ups until the end. 2 boxes a day to 100.

No sadly I was dumb and decided to go for the toy tree on that guy since I saved them for last one this one. The toys I caaaan make but that means farming those stupid souls which I only have the patience for once a week because of how the cooldown on the zapthrottle and the soul cages stagger.

On my alt I just dumped everything into generalist points and profession gear originally, then into mats. I fish a lot and got the fishing rod recipe. Did okay while the toon was still in the high 60s.

Grr zapthrottle lol

I know there are still some things I haven’t gotten because I’ve been to lazy to go get the souls. It’s on the list to do before the end of the expac.
