Every person you talk to about retail when they log in “I have to do my mythics for vaults” “I have to try and get a 10 done” “I have to do dailies” “I have to I have to I have to” is this why everyone is so at each other on this game constantly? People are already doing a chore they don’t want so they are ready to pop.
When is the “I want to do X” coming back or is that gone forever? I feel like it started in MoP?
I remember running dungeons, get this, FOR FUN. Was a long time ago probably in TBC or Wotlk but what a time that was.
I feel like a lot of things would have to change, and Blizzard would have to change their entire philosophy around time-gated gearing. It’s possible but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I still have fun with the game but I understand what you’re saying and it’s a valid complaint.
the first time through wow was just enjoying the ride. a year later it was “I have to farm gold for potions”, “I have to farm herbs for pots”, “I have to farm fire res gear” etc, yet all the fun things still existed back then, as they do now.
I think it’s fun doing my 8 delves then going to see what I’ve got on Tuesday afternoon. It’s also fun doing the campaign quest when a new expansion / season comes along and trying out alts of different classes and specs is fun as well.
It’s also fun doing follower dungeons and story mode raids to see the entire story.
To be fair that’s pretty different from “I have to do the exact same weekly checklist of chores I do every week, and nothing outside of that will progress my character so once I’m done I might as well log off until Tuesday.”
Fun is what you make of it. I do not chase after M+ or raids. I am content doing pet battles and solo delves. I like to chat but don’t like playing with others due to my disabilities.
Been this way as far back as Isle of Quel’danas. There are always dailies/weeklies in some new patch zone. You don’t have to do any of them, but I do for mounts, which is fun to me. And if you have friends to play with, just about any activity in WoW is made better.
Ever since our current game director took over, the game has been primarily focused on keeping us busy jumping through hoops to stay engaged. That’s not to say we still don’t have fun, but the goal is different from the original concept.
Listen, I am so down to form < Azeroths Most Casual > guild.
I am also personally disinterested in the hamster wheel that has become the game’s weekly chase. I just want to do stuff w/people because it’s fun and it’s a social part of the game, not because I feel like I have to.
if what your doing isnt fun then do something else. if you cant think of something else see what others are doing. if you dont like that, leave for a bit, you might be burnt out
for me i love mount and tramsmog farming. also been doing alot of the glory runs. dont most of the mount ones and just did a undermine one with a full pug group and easily did them all . (had to kick 1-2 people who were to blind/stupid to understand what to do or they didnt speak English). this season there all easy to do, stix being the hardest, being hes easy to stuff up (only needed 3 tries for him though, the rest were 1 or 2 shots)
so again, find what is fun for you and do it. if nothing is fun the leave the game for a bit. be it a day, a few weeks, months or a year+. i have done it and its been very good
I still run dungeons and raid for fun. Just because I say that “oh I have to finish X before reset” doesn’t mean I don’t want to do it. Many times I want to do it. Many people use that phrase in the english language.
