When the "Full Original Run" is over, should they add new content?

Keep max level at 60.

Add in the content that was originally meant for vanilla.

Hyjal, azshara battleground…

or even better, how about Grim Batol in wetlands… i believe that was supposed to be ingame, but they just ran out of time.

I think that may just be a weakness of Diablo 3. Diablo 2 kept people playing for ages and has been repeatedly stated as like “The ARPG”. As for Diablo 3’s weakness. I really don’t know what it is. Some say the lack of trading or that the gearing/character systems are hallow. But, it definitely is missing that magic touch to keep players around. So, I don’t think Diablo 3 is a good example of seasons working. Especially when you have this shining example of Diablo 2.

And that is completely fine! Which is why having them be their own little server group, separated from the main ones, would be great. Though, I do agree having them around from the get-go may be a bad idea. Would probably be good to add them later in Classic’s life when the population really starts to dwindle.

The stuff I posted in the OP is what I’m asking for haha! I don’t want them to add LFR or Heroic raids or anything, just content they didn’t have the time to do. Like, Atiesh takes you to Karazhan… They stated they didnt have time. It is also I think (I’m not 100% sure) like 1/3 the original size of what Karazhan was supposed to be.

On my paladin, I once kited that drake to Menethil Harbor, lol.

I think its that we are funneled into really just Greater Rifts, ARPGs aren’t supposed to be just grinding a leaderboard, look at Path of Exile - the game which many people herald as the true spiritual successor of D2.

I personally think a part of it is that you can’t trade, you really just chase a leaderboard that’s based on luck or rift fishing, and that they rush you to full gear in one night even with mediocre luck.

These ideas are refreshing, new, and original. I’m glad someone finally put this together and asked these questions. I thought I was the only one wondering about this since no one ever made a thread about it before.

I really appreciate that! haha. It’s been on my mind since Cataclysm when I first wanted to go back to Classic (I actually loved Cata though).

I absolutely love Madseason.

I never really played POE. So, I don’t really have much of a grasp on it. :stuck_out_tongue:
But, I don’t know! Grinding is definitely a huge part of it. I mean, jeeze. The amount of Baal runs I did in Diablo 2. The horror!

And yah. Especially when you’ve got your full set and are now just hunting better stats/ancients… It is incredibly easy to get a full set in D3. I don’t believe it was in other games on your own. You generally had to trade.

PoE you pretty much have to trade to get what you want. Drops are fixed really well in that game. There is no gold, so everyone uses specific items as currency too which is really cool. It took a bit to get used to but i really like it.

I completely forgot that Azshara was supposed to be the first “Max Level Only” zone, oh God. That would have been really cool to see how they would’ve handled it. I know recently they stated something about player housing in a Q&A. If it shows some good success on retail, they might add it to Classic after Naxx as well maybe.

Yes you can.

I’m talking huge numbers, not like 500 players.

I think it will need to be treated in a way of what the community wants as a majority. Look at old school runescape for example, their community is thriving and the development of that game is practically community driven. I believe this is a big reason why it has been doing so well.

I think blizzard should follow the same. If by the time most people are at end game and people start to get bored and want more… I think something new should probably happen (not following retail wow)

Yup OSRS is a really, really, good example of how to handle this. I think that adding more content is fine rather than new levels. Look at the success from Guild Wars 1 and 2, both never increased their level cap. I will give it that they add full on expansions though, so that has to be taken into consideration as well.

You know, there are so many of these posts that already exist.

You know, here we go again.

It could just be read and the OP’s question would be answered of what people thought.

You realize that I am trying to make sure that this discussion happens and that I want to know what OTHER people think, not what my sole opinion is? That’s the point of a forum. To communicate with others.

I do realize that however you asked what others think about adding content after the game is finished. I am for it if it lines up with Classic however as I said before, other people have suggested the same thing. You just have to use the search feature.

Blizzard is already on record saying that they don’t care how many people play this game long-term. If its 500 or 500,000, Classic WoW will still exist for as long as World of Warcraft exists.

Back to your point, the moment you put new gear sets and environments in the game, it’s not a recreation of Vanilla WoW anymore, its a completely new MMO. That’s not what this is supposed to be.
