When the Aussie dollar was stronger why wasn't the sub price decreased?

Better question is why is NZ unaffected by this “increase” and Australia is. :face_vomiting:

Crikey does anyone recall when converting gold to battlenet balance and then using that balance in the store to buy game time for 16.50 and having still more than a couple of bob left on your balance?

Strewth mate!

Issue is more we are getting less and less content each expansion and they’re putting more cash store items in. They’re making record profits but no, need more money it seems.

Standing up for blizzard on this makes you a big dumbdumb.

My rational brain: Well clearly they’ll revert the cost increase when the Aussie dollar gets strong again.

My grounded in reality brain: … They won’t I’m sure of it - _-

Joke about it now but if you think this won’t be used as a staging ground to bump up prices in other regions, I have some magic beans you might be interested in.

It’s entirely possible. They may be testing the reaction to a substantial price hike in a territory where they think they can get away with it, perhaps because of the (false) perception that Australia has come out the other side of Covid (far from it, though we’re mercifully beating back the actual virus) or perhaps because they figure the player population here is low enough that they can use it as an experiment to see how many quit the game when the price goes up.

They weren’t losing money.

Why does your avatar look like a cardboard cutout o_O

It really just comes off as Blizzard kicking you poor Aussies while you’re down.

LOL Aussies

I guess I dont see this.

I mean. They made the AU price the same as the US price. Not sure how thats a testing grounds to increase the baseline price.

Like taxes, I’ve never known prices to go back down. Not that you’d notice, anyway.

The Australian Dollar hasn’t been stronger since 2013.

Since 2014, it’s been 20% less (or lower), but your WoW subscription only cost 10% more.

Despite being 19.95, the AUD is only worth 0.73, so you’re still paying 3% less in coverted value than Americans.

Also keep in mind that these decisions are not made on a whim. They probably decided this several months ago, when your Dollarydoo tanked to 0.57, but they wanted to wait for something worth subscribing to (Read: Shadowlands) before they announced the increase.

When you cherry pick your facts, you look really silly the moment someone who knows what they are talking about shows up.

Doesn’t matter. From the point of view of an Australian player it’s a huge price hike. Most people don’t care what the price of something here equates to in the US.

It’s why Apple’s gotten away with adding a sizeable premium to the Australian price of everything for years. In the case of Wow, Blizzard keeping the sub reasonable relative to the market made a lot of sense, and earned our (foolish and misguided) respect.

Ok.

Now I dont care what the price is in AU, I guess.

Apple sells physical products. Living on an island 8000 miles away from anything good will increase the price.

This is an apples to oranges comparison.
