When is warcraft 2 movie coming out?

I feel like been waiting almost 10 years for it.

The movie didn’t do so well in North America, but had some more appeal in China IIRC.

I doubt we’ll ever get a sequel to it.

If anything I wish the IP was picked up by a streaming service to do a show.

The problem with the movie was that there were no Blood Elves.
If there had been it would now be one of the top film series.

Duncan Jones said that because it did not do as well in the US as he had hoped that they may delay a WC2 movie release but that it more than likely would tell the story of Arthas…(which is WC3) and Henry Cavill said he wants to play as Arthas.

There are already trailers out there for it, but those all seem fan made.

I would prefer just an animated series over a movie tbh.

So the movie for what it was, was good. But it was confusing to follow for anyone who didn’t know the back story / lore of WoW.

As someone who had only played WoW and no prior WC games, i knew the characters but the movie didnt make a lot of sense and wasnt as enjoyable as it could have been.

Didnt do very well explaining the characters or the lead up to this point in the story where the movie started.

And by not doing well, they mean that the movie was estimated to have lost over $15 million but probably closer to $40 million

Movies with losses like that usually dont get sequels

If they could just animate all the little comic books they made back in the day. That would be cool.

1st movie bombed. A sequel would require a movie exec who’s feeling charitable, and willing to gamble with millions upon millions of dollars; on an already proven bad investment.

So, likely never.

The director has stated that he would love to do a sequel. But Legendary owns
the rights. So they have to give the ok for another to be made.

Why do people want a movie? The first one was panned because you already needed to know almost everything before going into it.

A tv/streaming series would work better to introduce non-wow players into it. Bonus points if the focus was small scale in the world or on background unimportant characters so they don’t have to deal with following 20-30 years of major event dumping to the T.

Part of me is jaided… very jaided.

The other part of me sees this as an opportunity for a movie to come out during summer to tie into an actual expansion. Something to make us really bite like a vampire on content & focus us all once again

However I am intoxicated right now and I know it wouldn’t work because people who are as jaided as me are still playing, like I am, hypocritical, maybe…

I want to make a comment about education & things but I would be quickly banned

There is another problem I just realized (Thank you Matt Damon) most actors no longer get paid residuals for movies that go to streaming, so the quality of movies and writing is nose diving right now while actors are getting boned but those execs… you know they are getting paid fat

The power of friendship… Gag.

Well the movie sucked and kinda flopped

So, its not

With a series as… wide-ranging as Warcraft, they really should look into doing a show if they ever poke into another medium again.

Ideally, I think I’d want two teams, each producing shows that go concurrent. One show has seasons based around major characters and their related storylines (ie, Illidan, Arthas, Thrall) to satisfy those who want to see their favorite characters. The other would go between different smaller-scale events across the universe on a per-episode basis (ie, an episode showing Zul’s rise to prominence in the Zandalari Empire, another episode featuring Lei-Shen’s reign and fall, another being about Onyxia’s schemes leading to her eventual death, etc.) so that there’s some content that’s bouncing between various races and factions.

Doing a movie based on WC1 was just a bad idea to begin with. The franchise had basically no story back then and was just a Warhammer knock off.

I don’t know how the first one was released in 2016, but streaming platform would be the way to go. If Henry Cavill was attached it would be wildly popular. As someone suggested in the other thread, a miniseries or series would be a better idea.

I mean, they had High Elves. That is close enough. Mind you, they did not have much of a part in it.

Duncan Jones meant well, but he’s the generation that grew up on WC1 & 2 instead of Warcraft 3. So it makes sense he decided to start there…

However, Warcraft 3 just was way better in terms of popularity gameplay wise and storywise. I personally would like to see Warcraft 3 on the big screen instead of Warcraft 2, but I can see fans of the Warcraft movie wanting a direct sequel to follow up to Lothar and the other characters.

P.S. Duncan Jones is the son of David Bowie.
