When did the WoW community get so political?

Yup. I jumped across the Atlantic.

First off have you worked at an HR department? How do you know they are going out of their way? How do you even show that? What would be an example of going out of their way?

Do you have any proof characters were altered or replaced? Do you have proof of their reasoning? Like, what are you talking about where are you getting this information?
It just seems to me you don’t like some elements and you are coming up with your own prejudices and conclusions as to why it happens.

real simple. Did you apply and follow the rules to get in? Or did you make your own rules, force your way in and demand that you be allowed to stay?

If you ask to come into my house I can say yes or no. If I say no and you break in, we gonna have a problem. Its not racial. Its respect.

Also, do you still fly the flag of your old country and complain how bad the country you moved to is? I saw this in FL all the time from NYers. They complain how much they hated NY and how they were glad to be in FL, but the first thing they tried to do is make FL into NY. If you want NY, stay in NY. I want FL so I stay in FL and if I change my mind, I will leave and find a place I want to be…

Whenever there is a big change, you get people who freak out and yell and push to go back in the other direction. It never stops the movement, but it does sometimes make for an ugly period of time.

We are in one of those periods right now.

I am not going to discuss the details and get in a political slapfight here. Trolls can just bellow into the ether. I’m just saying that the political chatter is a symptom of an overall cycle that I have seen before (because I am old).

So you are a Florida Man?

The world is getting crazy. Look up Evergreen State College for one of the most extreme (but certainly not unique) examples.

Not anymore. I grew up outside of DC (so I saw political change every 4 or so years. Parents moved to Fl. I hated it. Tried TX. Loved Austin - hated TX. In KC K right now and enjoying it. Going to try Portland next I think - I miss the coast and hate the east coast…

you can see in many recent developments like the failed star wars that the directors basically brag about their political agenda and attack fans who disagree, you don’t have to dig deep to find proof of certain cases of forced diversity and agenda pushing. I’m not interested in getting into an immature politics catfight with you though, so i’m leaving at this.
I stated my opinion, and it it what it is.

The whole country is divided along political lines these days. It’s everywhere. You can’t have a discussion on the internet without it devolving into a political argument.
Also, a lot of WoW players are older these days. A lot of people pay more attention to politics the older they get. Sure, you may have strong feelings when you’re in your twenties, but once political decisions start really effecting your finances, healthcare and community you start to pay more attention. And the older you are the more experience you have seeing through all the b.s. that comes with politics and people who are dead set on voting strictly by party affiliation.

I am just asking you explain what you actually mean rather than rely on emotion and rhetoric. You were happy to keep stating your opinion until someone actually asked you to explain what you actually mean.
You stated companies go out of their way to hire other people or force diversity down your throat.

Well what do you mean by that? And how does it feel forced?

Politics has always been a part of gaming, and other media. Whats really starting to change is that a lot more is out of what some groups find as normal.
The people who claim that things are getting worse, and i do not want politics in video gaming and media are often just as happy with it when its politics they agree with.
Its happening a lot, People will criticize something for having something. Say its the SJW that are the problem and demand it to be made in a way they find Ok.

Really we all do want good media, I have grown up watching shows that barely represent myself. Its just kind of sad to see people who are so against the variety in media.
A lot of the diversity is adding to the world, its showing its trying to depict a working world. With characters that all may not agree and come from different backgrounds.
Adding humans that are not all one shape, with varied thoughts and desires ads to the stories and the worlds they are in.
As well as other races, who would not be the same as humans.
Hell even with history, they is a lot more to what people latch on to.
We have been a really interesting and changing species over quite a short and long time.

As soon as politics became the defacto form of trolling, the community became more political

It started getting worse during the 2016 election run up…

I think you’re missing the point. I’m not saying you can’t be for strong immigration legislation. There has to be legislation. The problem comes when we vilify people who want to come here.

How often do you hear people who immigrate or seek asylum get demonized? It happens all the time! We even have a name for them: “illegals” is what we call them. It was just an “illegal.” Not a real person, just a filthy law-breaking less than human creature.

By the way, seeking refuge or asylum is legal under American law. You can look it up. So a lot of the current people from the Middle East or South America are actually legally allowed to enter our country. That doesn’t seem to matter to a lot of people though, because we are already predisposed to label them as criminal lowlifes.

Sure, we don’t want illegal immigration. No one wants that. It should be and it has to be a controlled process. But demonizing people who come here seeking their fortune wont do anything to help the process.

By the way, I entered the country legally, not that I need to prove that though.

the tone that you responded to my comment in heavily suggested you are after a fight, so i am choosing not to continue, because I am not interested in devolving to a spat.

Why would you bring that up in a job interview? I mean you are in the job interview itself, a few steps away from being employed and you are thinking about criticizing the policies of the new job before you get in.

How am I asking for a fight? I am asking you to clarify your argument so its not just a buzzword.

If you don’t want to clarify then just say so.

Were not becoming more politically active. We"re awash in and conducting the bigotry, ignorance, and hatred of identity politics for power and profit.

This where you confuse Legal immigration with illegal immigration.

I have no issues with where anyone comes from. If they follow the process, its all good.

If they dont follow the process, I have an issue. I see these people as humans. I also see the rampant abuse of the term refuge (and the govt stats on how many are denied refugee status). I also hear the migrants themselves claim they are only coming for jobs. I have seen enough videos. Many dont want to actually become Americans - they want American pay while staying loyal to the country they claim is causing them to flee.

I see one side try to frame the discussion as racial, yet when Mexico and their officials hold the same ideology as some do (like the ones actually saying our President is right) and it gets no press it bothers me.

I look at the reason people in the US would go out of theur way to drawn migrants and it comes down to 2 things:

The left wants votes and they know migrants will vote for them more.
The chamber of commerce right (think Kock Brothers) want low wage/slave labor. I love it when the progressive left realize they and the Kock brothers believe the same thing…

My belief in limiting immigration is a basic economic reality. When you increase the supply of something, its value goes down. Bringing more workers into the US are what has kept wages stagnant since the 80s. This used to be a leftist concept. More workers = lose for workers / win for corporations

I never look at the chat in-game.

I deal with stupidity at work all week long. Not about to subject myself to it during the off hours.

As for the forums, I’m probably going to give them a miss from here on out (until they implement a mute function of some sort)

Some of the replies to this are just asinine.
