What's your player housing wishlist?

But it was. It had buildings, trophy spaces, mailboxes and prof buildings. It just want exciting. Save with player housing. How exciting is that? Are you just going to hang out at yo crib?

No. It wasn’t. Garrisons were a quest and profession hub. That’s not player housing. Swapping out a couple buildings does not equate to player housing.

If houses are prefab, the feature is pretty much DOA.

Nah keep the swtor costs of housing out of wow. Honestly if anything guild wars 2 which recently introduced housing did it better. As you dont have to pay for more rooms. You just gotta earn or craft the goodies you want around your house

I want a night elf themed tree house. Nordrassil or near Bel’ameth on Amirdrassil are probably the best areas for that right now. I always wanted a home on Teldrassil :frowning:

I want a pet cat who gets along with Dog.

The barrier to entry needs to be low, unlike the competition that FF14 has had for available plots. There needs to be enough housing for everyone to get a house.

A dye system for housing items. I want everything to be blue and others may prefer something else. This is a perfect opportunity to introduce a dye system to WoW since everything will be new.

Every profession needs to be able to craft some housing items. This could keep professions viable long term because housing items are not seasonal content and could have demand long after the patch they are introduced in becomes old content.

I never mentioned the costs of SWTOR or room unlocks. As a matter of fact, I specifically mentioned not insanely priced and with gold only. Did you read the whole post?

Gold shouldnt even be a factor for unlocking more plots. Thats where swtor went wrong. If anything they should do quests that unlock more plots. Wow doesnt need more gold sinks atm. Repairs already do that for most.

I mean… it’s going to cost gold for something in some way. That’s inevitable. Decos, plots, whatever.

But I’d also be fine with random key drops like Rift did. I don’t think we need to do questlines to unlock housing plots.

What’s your player housing wishlist?

They should make a deal with Linden Labs and have them do player housing for WoW similar to what they did for Second Life. It would have to be a cut down version but L.L. has a tremendous amount of experience with this feature.

I think they’re great at coming up with good content, it all seems to turn pear shaped when they look at any given piece of content and think to themselves “How can we drag this out?”. It’s all of the convoluted nonsense that ends up killing something that started as a good/fun idea, trying to milk it for more engagement than it’s worth, or trying to turn it into a gold sink in order to stimulate token sales (a more recent trend).

My issue is in the development stage. They need a person to loudly shout “NO!” at anyone who says “Hey, I’ve got another idea! We should…” Sort of like Metzen, but he crushes ideas instead of pumps them up.

I want your house to start off small and through questing/effort we can slowly build a 2nd floor and basement or additional rooms. I would love if we had to cut down our own trees, quarry stones etc. Could add carpentry and stone masonry as crafting professions.

I want to be able to store trophies or weapons on walls or display cases.

I want a workshop in the basement based on my professions

I want a herb garden, and a pond in an outdoor space, maybe a greenhouse.

I want to be able to invite others

I want optional features like a butler, flight point, flooring, furniture, banners etc

And last but not least, move the void storage to a chest in our home to store our rare goodies.

While FFXIV has its share of housing problems for anyone who knows the pain of trying to get one depending on your server, some of the features themselves I think Blizzard could draw from. Other MMOs like Wildstar (RIP) and ESO (though I’ve never experienced the housing system myself) would also be great places of inspiration.

What I would want:

-The ability to set roomates would be nice, essentially allowing others to enter and exit when you’re not there as well as granting them certain permissions, like decorating, moving things etc.

-Crafting professions able to make cosmetics for housing. It would be a good opportunity to give some of the undervalued or underutilized professions ways to stay relevant outside of making dungeon/raid essentials and a handful of cosmetics.

-Basic crafting tables would be nice (Engineers already have the ability to set up basic crafting stations anywhere) but I do think they should continue to make you go to major cities in order to place and fulfill crafting orders. In order to help avoid the problem of people never leaving their house like garrisons.

-Portals to certain areas in game, or maybe just certain dungeons? Players who complete +10s for a season can already teleport directly to dungeons. So maybe being able to set up some teleport pads to niche locations would be nice.

  • Mini brawlers guild or dueling pads would be kind of fun, similar to WildStar’s outdoor buildings you could set up. There wouldn’t even need to be rewards tied to it, it could just be fun watching your friends duel or try and take down an elite boss that you spawn in for kicks.

-Mount stable to show off your mounts to any visitors. Maybe have a top 5 that get displayed?

-Companions/mini pets roaming around your house.

-NPC retainers or other characters from your Warband hanging out there.

-various housing race and faction themes, maybe even some niche ones.

-customizable background music (this feature already exists in garrisons)

-faction guards to guard your lands(again the ability to swap faction guards out exists in garrisons as well)

Place-able in all zones like garrisons were gonna be. Instanced so it isn’t limited like FFxiv.

I have played a lot of MMOs, like quite a few, if not most here. The one that stands out to me in terms of housing is Star Wars: The Old Republic. You could customize your stronghold like I did, so that as soon as you zoned in, you had storage, mail, repair, and GTN {Auction House} right there. I did that with every one of my strongholds. Then you could leave and come back to where you entered or leave to a completely different location. So those options would be primary for me in WoW player housing, secondary would be the look and feel. In SWTOR there were a variety of strongholds on different worlds that could be themed for different classes and/or factions.

For example, my Tatooine SH was themed for my Trooper, my Nar Shadaa SH for my Smuggler, and Yavin was my Sith stronghold. In WoD, our garrisons only had two themes, Human and Orc. I’d like to see more variety. Night elf, dwarf, undead and troll themes would be very welcome, and it would be great to be able to craft decorations or do quests for them. There was a limited amount of this in SWTOR, but most were bought from the in-game store.

In SWTOR, the strongholds varied in size from the small ones on the capital worlds and space stations to the sprawling ones on Rishii, Alderaan, Tatooine, and Yavin. There was even one on a moving train! You could open your strongholds to the public. There were boards in the main space stations where you could choose from those open to visit and zone into them. I’d love to see something like that in WoW as well.

As far as ideas for housing, imagine a luxury Goblin barge like in Thousand Needles. Or a Night Elf tree house.

And now that player housing is going to be a thing…what about guild houses? In SWTOR, you had guild spaceships. In D&D Online, you had guild airships. Guild Wars 2 had some magnificent guild housing.

I’m excited to see housing in WoW. And I hope it will be an ever-evolving feature, with additional areas and customization becoming available.

If anyone wants to visit any of my strongholds in SWTOR, so as to get ideas for future WoW housing., just let me know.

I know it goes against my wishes for simplicity, but what if you could throw parties like we could in Revendreth? Where it’s an actual skill testing part of the game that you get rewards for. Like a weekly.

I want a poll and some night elves
