What's your main "goal"

So, I personally am not a big fan of much of BFA, however I returned for 8.2. Simple reason is, I have a goal, which I think is something that can help people actually be motivated to play, like me.

Personally, I just want to get better at the game. At the moment, I’m pretty sucky. Sure, I know how to play some classes/specs either decently or pretty well, but I have trouble paying attention to all the mechanics going on in raids.

A lot of people spend time farming for gear -to- raid, as an example, but I think that’s a bad goal. Personally, I find the best goal is to try to improve, not through getting stronger as a character, but as a person.

So, I ask you - what’s your goal?

Short term: kill heroic azshara. Long term, assuming certain RL plans don’t pan out: kill mythic azshara. More likely will be putting game stuff on hold in a couple months though.

Realistically, to have fun. I enjoy this game, but sometimes the chores/quests suck.

My main and only goal is to kill every demon I come across!

I didn’t sacrifice everything just so I could grind AP.

I play the game for fun. One of the few games I enjoy anymore. My goal? Just to play and level alts. I have no desire to do group content outside of what I am forced to do for quests/story. Just don’t like being yelled at for whatever reason. Working on my horde character to unlock Mag’har orcs and zandalar trolls. Sadly, I have hit the WQ cap on that character today so… Going to watch youtube and stuff. Need a break today.

To finish this magic ritual at all costs.

Main goal is to have fun. Oh right that is subjective isn’t it? Well I have a goal of getting this DH to 430+ ilvl. I haven’t been in the upper tier of gear for over a year and the thought of getting that power increase makes me happy. I love it.

I love topping meters. I’ve seen many times while gearing up someone else playing the class I’m playing and I see the MONSTROUS numbers they’re putting out and I’m like I REALLY want to do that. I want someone to see me and go “damn look at the numbers that guy can put out”.

Sorry for being rant-y about it but that’s my goal and that’s what I pursue in wow right now.

my goal is to grow my pet collection

I specifically avoid setting goals in open ended games like WoW.

It unconstraints me to trying to do things within a certain timeline or feeling pressured to do anything. Some days I raid, some days I RP, some days I do loop-de-loops on a rocket in Stormwind while talking to friends.

I play this game to relax and get away from schedules, quotas, and micromanaging things.

Hoping to find a guild that’s a good fit this patch. A couple friends and I are working on getting better in arenas too. In general having more fun now than I have in years in WoW but that’s largely thanks to playing with friends now.

My favorite part of playing an mmo is the ability to set your own goals and reach them in your own time. The goal in most single player games barring large RPGs like the elder scrolls is just to finish.

To quit video games or at least play them less.
