What's With The Hyenas?

Have that group go horde and have Mon’ark and his clan go alliance. Problem solved

There is nothing to suggest gnolls had a “kingdom” in Stormwind(this even goes against their nature because they are generally a disorganized bunch). And in fact they are even mentioned to be a “young” race.

I’m just gonna assume that Kezan, much like Zuldazar, has hyenas native to it and we just didn’t see them in the starter zone because most animal life had been driven off/extinguished from the surface. Blizzard has often used hyenas as a stand in for ‘scrappy, mangy mutt’ when they don’t want to use dogs since those feel less ‘metal’ than a hyena I guess. Despite hyenas not being canines.

They wanted to give goblins something other than just robots, and Hyenas are funnier than dogs. That’s it. It’s not a Harley Quinn reference, and neither is the existence of New York.

Wait you’re telling me England isn’t doing a Kul Tiras reference?

So they talk like that for no reason?

Why?

Gnolls aren’t as united as you think. It would probably be both.

Nah, england fits more with the Gilneans worgens.

Realistically any new race is going to be cross faction regardless

I think you could make an argument for Alliance centaur/Horde Gnolls though

Goblins are the most well traveled race. They are enterprisers. A cool bit of etymology that links back is cartel comes from the paper agreements made between countries. The word literally holds international implications. I would expect to see them with a diverse arsenal of animals.

They’re tough. I feel like they should be horde because everything about them screams horde and horde already has a hyena theme going on.

Alliance also encounter them as early quest zone enemies-- which, ironically might make them more of an “alliance” flavor? So it could go either way.

I feel like most new races are going to be neutral now.

I really hope not.

I’m fine with some overlap, but I prefer the Horde and Alliance having more distinct playable races from each other.

I agree with Nally on this. I see blizz continuing the same pattern as the dracthyr and earthen.

It’s probably easier resource and time wise to make one allied race instead of two

Oof. Might want to brace for impact, Night Elves. If Malfurion is retiring and Orweyna is becoming Druid-in-Chief, you’re going to be sharing seating at the Druid Kiddie Table with Hamuul.

I just figured the Venture Co. brought them back from all their operations around Kalimdor.
