As it should be.
They can add different avenues for rep bonus’/acquisition. The rep tabards were lame. (unpopular opinion) - But an exalted tabard should be your token of respect from that faction.
I’d rather see them boost the contract rep bonus.

If they don’t do anything else with tabards they should do this and go back to their legion rep system.
Which is a really bad idea imho.
General Discussion: World of Warcraft needs more in-game cosmetic rewards.
Also General Discussion: Why is this cosmetic item a reward for a rep grind? I want it NOW!
I don’t mind items being locked behind a rep grind, don’t get me wrong. I just think they messed up severely with rep in BFA and now that I’m trying to get exalted with some Legion factions, it’s slightly easier to get rep at all and doesn’t feel like I’ll be at this for the better parts of my day for 2 months.
It would be nice if blizzard did incentive people to wear them.
Oh, God forbid you might earn rep by just wearing a tabard and gaining it from other activities that don’t involve doing garbage world quests constantly for a particular faction. Thank you, Blizzard. We were all in danger of not being subjected to garbage design choices for a second. Phew.
Or make reputations account wide. As it is, I don’t usually touch alts till I have pathfinder, because playing an alt is hurting my main and all other characters. That’s not really fun.
They used to be used for championing, sadly they limited that at some point which I think was a tremendous mistake.
At first tabards were just cosmetic items, rep was mainly gotten from questing, turn in, and doing instances. In Wrath tabards made it so you could do any dungeon and get rep as long as the mobs in there still gave you rep. That stopped that after Cata and went back to the first way to get rep. I don’t see anything wrong with tabards just being cosmetic items to be honest. But I would like to see the rep system go back to the MoP system which in my opinion was the best.
Yeah, too bad there are no time-played metrics reported to investors for this game, there never has been for World of Warcraft. You sound foolish parroting this nonsense.
Those aren’t conflicting things. Because people that into cosmetics likely would want it now.
Tabards use to have a use though. And were better then. I don’t use them anymore. They don’t even work with some newer sets. Because they bug out and don’t show over the armor.
Perhaps they could make the contract bonus apply to non-trivial quests (ie, ones that involve more than “talk to the guy down the road”), dailies, and bosses. Perhaps add a 50 rep bonus with your contracted faction for the first [x] bosses you kill every week, or 250 for the first [x] dungeons you complete or something.
Seems like a fair way to make contracts a bit more useful, and sort of brings back a bit of the feel that tabards and daily dungeon bonuses had, albeit in a slightly different form.
It’d make the rep grind easily better if they actually made their contract system viable. 10 added rep for only world quests that give you 50 is insanity.
I miss Cata tabards.
So many dungeons with friends to get therazane rep for shoulder enchants.
If tabards now are only an exalted reward, I really wish they would get some love model wise… Maybe a model upgrade to make it actually looking like a 3D piece of fabric rather than a spandex-like vest.
Hasn’t been that way for 8 years now.
I’m aware of this, but I still think it’s ridiculous they changed it.
And it’s just now bothering you?
It’s more of the rep grind of Legion vs BFA is bothering me, honestly. I don’t know what happened to BFA but Legion’s rep grind is by far something I’d rather do.
