I have visited Japan. The experience was great. The people wonderful. But. Most of the games I have played that were made by a Japanese company have had some pretty weird titles. I would of guessed that they had capable translators but I can’t figure out why the Japanese localization crew came up with such undecipherable game titles in English.
Here is One example: “Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness.” What does this even mean?
I heard there is no World of Warcraft in Japan. No Servers. I’m wondering if its because Bliz fears that the Japanese would change the title to something like “Planet of the Struggling Potatoes.” I wonder?
Ok that’s one of the “Star Ocean” titles. You have to include the colon “Star Ocean: blah blah blah” to get that it’s part of a series. I guess “Star Ocean” is sort of a fancy way to mean “outer space”.
…Actually, that sort of makes sense the more i think about it.
Well that and, they also has a bit of an odd thing going where it will feel weird for them if something isn’t both in English and Japanese, and it’s only in Japanese. At least that’s what i’ve gathered from one of those videos that go in depth on why GTA SA censored was some countries.
