So an alt runs a Delve. Has no keys. Can’t unlock the third chest. What’s the goal of having this…I don’t know, extra level of effort required? I’m not mad, but I don’t see the benefits of this system.
You need to do the big world quest that get unlocked after completing 3 smol world quests
They drop keys if you’re not capped yet
cap is like 4 max
To put a cap on gear acquisition though delves. It does makes sense since each key guarantees a piece of loot. You can get 4 - 6 per week, depending on how many radiant echoes you have and world quests that pop up.
Expect 20 - 40 min of doing mindless chores per character to get all of them, though.
LFR and normal raid and M+2-5 should drop 3x as much gear, it is low ilvl anyway, then delves should not require keys. Low crests should also drop 3x as fast and should have no seasonal cap. Then do something with heroic raid and M+6-10 so it’s not so sharp. Also delete valor stones and make the lowest any current content drops adventurer 1/8 ilvl 610 (including normal dungeons)
That, or just let us get our weekly keys through doing delves in the first place.
It’s not the gating, it’s the pointless waste of time running around doing theatre productions and trivial timed echo events that’s the problem.
If your 80 you must travel and do things to get them this is what is expected. Its simple really, but a nuisance for sure. If you are speaking about your alts and being 80 of course.
Considering, on a bad day, you can spend that much time finding a group to run a single dungeon for a 40% chance of loot, it’s still a bargain from a time efficiency standpoint.
Yeah, but it’s still mind-numbingly boring and unnecessary. They could simply drop some coffer key shards at the end of each delve instead and be done.
Also, it’s a big reason I don’t do group content anymore. Being chained to the computer waiting for a queue to pop isn’t a great use of my time. We all only get so much of it.
Run bountiful get 639 champion piece
The keys allow you to get better gear over running a normal Delve, so they cap/gate them.
They want M+ to be the only loot source that’s infinitely repeatable.
Because M+ would collapse if it wasn’t the central axis of loot in the game.
Complete the 3 quest special quest, the 4/4 crystal lamps and the machine weekly and anything that gives a chest. 4 keys free. Delves give items you then can use in the azeroth memories for more key shards and valor stones.
Keys are a dumb take on the once-a-week limitation for M0s.
It’s supposed to give more flexibility, but it’s really just busy-work. To a bunch of tedious nonsense weekly quests, WQs, and World Soul Echoes to get your keys, then you get to go actually do your delves for the week. Imagine if you had to do all that crap to do your Mythic Keystones, and you could only do 4-7 per week for loot. Dungeoneers would riot.
But hey, it’s totally fine to treat Delvers that way. ::eyeroll::
To protect M+'s position in the gearing system.
Because it’s guaranteed loot. I’d much rather do the activities and get guaranteed loot than have to run 10-15 delves at a 40% drop rate like m+ to get the same 4-6 items. I also like the flexibility of being able to stockpile keys on alts so I’ll have a ton when I choose to gear them up.
I think it makes sense.
Now yes, most likely people who are good at the game likely can do delves on S1 item level. But I do know folks who genuinely struggle at first and do get better on delves through that as a gearing system.
So as a time to effort thing for them they have activity that gives key x4 + delvesx8 or activityx4+delvesx4 (at a minimum) and as they slowly get more hero gear and level it up, find themselves beating Delves and climbing higher.
My friends partner has been a solo player this time and it’s only recently she has opened up to raiding with us. I genuinely believe she has more fun than most people who do M+.
Because delves allow a casual chump like me to be 652 in week 2 with no gear from raid or m+
Its okay to have a slight hint of resistance to overcome in a game.
Coffer keys is resistance?
To make players keep spending time doing the zone events.
Delves are meant to be an extension of open world content, so the keys tie them together and put a minor throttle on how much gear they can provide so they don’t completely overshadow other sources.
