I really just came here to say I’ve been having fun playing dragonflight. I’m not good by any means but the social aspect of this game has really strengthed relationships with my friends and I’ve really been enjoying it.
I was playing as an enhancement Shaman and decided to give resto shaman a try at the very end of season 1 so been playing resto for all of season 2. I’ve read so many forums about healing being too hard, about tanks being too op, about affix who should own them, etc…
I want to take a moment and appreciate the game for what it is and ask for others to tell stories about the most fun they have had playing the game whether with friends, or solo, or just an accomplishment your proud of.
For me it was the first time I actually felt like I did “okay” as a healer. A bit of background I played enhancement Shaman and at the end of DF season 1, which is about when I started to play again, I switch to resto Shaman. Have literally never played any healer role in all my time with the game so this was a first for me. It took me a few months to really learn my role then I learn the dungeon. I was playing with my friends and we accidentally pulled too much, it was probably my fault for running the wrong way but I went dead silent and just healed as best as I could. It was thrilling! Everyone’s health was dropping like crazy and I was just in the zone and managed to keep everyone alive with 6% of mana left after I let out a sigh. My friends started to laugh because of what we did and just said “Those heals for sure saved us!”. Whether they were just being kind or what I felt really proud of that moment and felt like I had actually contributed to a dungeon for a change. It was a big moment for me.
What about you, what are something your proud of, or great memories you have of playing the game?

Mine was a theater of pain m+ run in shadowlands. Probably a 10 key or something on my resto druid. The tank was good and I’m okay, but the 3 dps weren’t that good. However, they were all friends and let me join them. I had the most fun because there were some needless deaths but they were all laughed off. We hit a brick wall at the last boss and wiped like 3 times. We finally downed the boss and celebrated like we won the Super Bowl. I don’t remember if I got any loot and didn’t care. It was just good ol’ fun. I’d rather focus on having fun while playing than getting on an IO or ILVL treadmill.

Co-tanking ICC with my husband is probably tops just due to nostalgia, but there are loads of other great experiences in game, most of them associated with having a good time with friends.

Fun in WoW?
First time running a dungeon with a few people I knew personally that played WoW at the time while I was really new.
Exploring WoW for the first time and when I finally subscribed, exploring Legion[broken isles] , feeling like a newbie again lol

The BfA pre-patch event. It was most definitely just my realm group, but it was nonstop raid vs raid the entire time. A comfortable routine of waiting for the crate drop, with 10-20 people running around fighting in the forest. Then it was an all out brawl at 15fps.
Could log in at any hour and it was still going strong.

Standing on the top of the tower on Quel’Danas Island, using cloak and dagger to ambush flyers, floating down on their corpses, and cannibalizing their corpses if I took any damage.

It was similar to the Legion invasions you saw in Legion with some differences. Instead of doing a few quests leading up to a scenario where you fight a boss. The invasion was one giant group scenario with waves after waves of enemies. Ending each stage led to you fighting a sub boss until the last stage, where you end up seeing the main one. They all took place in different regions of EK and Kalimdor making them accessible for the entire server at any level.
The drops weren’t anything spectacular, some Burning Legion weapons, and an armor set for every type, but they weren’t anything you’d miss out on not having. They were more akin to Legion versions of the Solemn Watchman’s Garb. And the usual catch up gear and stuff for the beginning of the expansion. The beauty of them were in how much XP you would get for alts. The leveling was crazy. Pre-nerfed event you could level toons from 1 - 100 rapidly. Post-nerf you still got crazy fast XP. A good example would be Korrak’s Revenge experience in terms of gaining experience very quickly.
It was just a good time to be had. WoD was in the rearview and it was to a point where an invasion was going to start, you’d have half the server flying in at the same time to participate.

I played 3.3-5.3, 6.2-7.2, and 9.0-10.1 on retail, and the first season each of all 3 classics. I have played about 13 seasons of WoW to AOTC equivalent progress across the various eras. Of all of these, my absolute favorite and the one I enjoyed the most was Shadowlands season 4. Particularly I very much enjoyed how high the general mood of the player base was having a nice mount to farm in raids that were relatively short and enjoyable to play. I also thought the way they did raid vendor was one of the best ways loot has ever been done in WoW. It was just good times and general spirits were high.

Now I see why it was liked
I love the fact that they made the invasions in EK and Kalimdor.
I feel like if they did that in Legion where it felt the burning legion has a huge presence, it’d feel more impactful but a’las… just left to have lil wishes that wont happen
Thanks and appreciate the thorough reply!

My most enjoyable times were in Vanilla and BFA, but not because of any quest or content. I’m not really into RP, nevertheless, most of my best memoroes are RP related.

The most fun I had I must admit was back when I was playing with my friends who got me into the game. Exploring this huge, complex game was a joy for an old D&D player and every day was the most fun.
I always feel jealous of new players who come to WoW and for whom everything is fresh and new. We can never have that feeling again, but it does make for good memories.

Other than that was the patch I believe that introduced scaling while leveling. That wasn’t fun for leveling alts (at least not for me). The other aspects were cool tho.
