What's the final goal of classic?

Asked about 10 times a day, nobody in the community knows, Blizzard hasn’t said much. /thread

I very much doubt they will rework the game to be Classic+. That would be the highest quality experience, but nobody at Blizzard is going to release a big fat admission that they borked their game on the first go and are taking a mulligan on all the bad choices.

Everyone has an opinion, and Blizzard probably hasn’t sat down to decide yet.

when you finish all the content and get bord of raiding, then you start a new character
And when you have done all the characters then you make the other faction

then you do a fresh server

you keep rolling new characters and enjoy the ride to 60 then the game will last FOREVER

You PvP. You level Alts. You PvP.

The goal of Vanilla is to attract people who can no longer enjoy retail.

That’s basically it.

The entire Classic movement exists for people who went to play Classic on pserver cause they could no longer play live.

If you are the kind of player that is already subbed and has bought BFA, Blizzard has already gotten their money’s worth out of you. You aren’t the target audience of Classic.

And yes, I could easily see development of Classic going in the similar vein as you proposed. More content that simply expands on the concept of Vanilla like adding new legendaries, adding actual world PvP mechanics, making talent trees not-awful, fixing the disastrous honor system and making it more accessible for it’s primary audience, fixing underrepresented PvP specs, and so on.

Implying that’s anywhere near now. Why don’t we worry about that when we get there, It’s not gonna be any time soon.

Ugh, no. We don’t need a limit set to our playtime in order to finish what we want to accomplish in Classic. The whole point of it is that you can do what you want, when you want. If I want to take 3 years getting Naxx gear or Warlord title, or do it in one, I can do that. It is my choice.

BfA has taken away a player’s choice to progress on our own timetable. It now forces us to play constantly with daily/weekly chores, otherwise you will miss out on content if you don’t play every single patch phase. Things like old Legendary questlines that are now obsolete, or Mage Towers, or new patches that immediately make old gear obsolete.

It is such a fast paced game that I feel whatever character I am playing doesn’t even matter anymore. I can get the same feeling on any of my alts. Nothing feels unique, or special, and you certainly don’t have a feeling of accomplishment like in Classic. A new patch comes out, and the treadmill starts all over again.

Classic progression will be up to you, at your own pace. Why would you want to reset Classic every year? So you can re-level a character up to 60? Or remain at 60 but have newer, shinier armor pop up with ‘Seasons’ like Diablo does? No. Either way, it does not hold to the spirit of Classic. What you want sounds like an entirely new game. “BfA, but in Classic!” No thanks.

Yes! Exactly. It blew my mind when I discovered Darnassus for the first time, or realizing I could swim down underwater to explore, or pick professions that could improve myself and others in my guild. That you could group up with other people and see them on the screen with you! It was my first MMORPG. Just being able to explore a world completely at your own pace and style was awesome. My goal was to immerse myself in all matters of the game, but unfortunately BC came out all too soon.

I look forward to Classic because I never got the chance to finish it. Even if I don’t set foot in Naxx or get a high pvp title, just finishing my characters in other ways will be extremely fulfilling.

The poster I was responding to clearly had no intentions to discuss it. Seems you don’t either. No loss. Bye now.

An RTS game is very different from an MMORPG game. To compare the two is silly. MMORPG needs expansions for new content, new continent, new levels. RTS needs no such thing, just perhaps a new version of the same thing (Startcraft 1 to 2 for example). Many don’t even do the campaigns.

You do realize that people would have stopped playing WoW ages ago if instead of expansions they were told “You PvP. You level alts. You PvP.”

Hint: many don’t like PvP. Many don’t want to level alts.

The goal of classic is just like the goal of everything else in the universe:
Control of the spice.

yes Praise we all want expansions, we all know how that works out

thats why we are getting classic and it doesnt need to ever change

Well, I keep saying blizzard needs to flag servers that go to a certain expansion, so then you would at least know the cycles for content. So a pure classic server will just forever stay on Naxx, Sunwell on a Pure TBC, ICC for WoTLK. At least then the players would know the end game. BUt I’ve been seeing a lot of people wanting blizzard to add new content, and these are from people that screamed no changes btw, but ironic that it’s changes that they want.

By this logic, what’s the point of playing any game? Why drop $70-80 bucks on PlayStation or Xbox games that you’ll get 40-60 hours playtime before you’ve got everything. I swear we are in the doldrums until classic launch. Do people even read the questions they’re asking before posting it? I get it, we’re all restless waiting for the release day, but c’mon…

Let me know when you’ve done all content and got every best in slot from naxx and the corrupted ashbringer op.

I wouldn’t worry too much. You will probably never beat Naxx. You are probably not good enough. Most won’t be.

He who controls the [Mild Spice] controls the universe!

PLUS there were things that we never got to explore in Vanilla that was originally planned for release, but wasn’t. So they could always do that as well. But I like your answer more

What’s the goal of literally ANY game that you’ve already finished?

Play it again, because you enjoy it! It’s the journey that matters, not the goal.

What is the goal of life?

Nothing… get over it.
