it becomes a feature if u join the wrong guild. then u do 3 or 4 runs for nothing and dont get anything. basically ur just an asset that gets gear after everyone “important” does
You’re describing a poor and corrupt implementation of a loot council system. With the right loot council this won’t happen. Members of the loot council should keep each other in check to prevent this sort of thing.
As the druid class lead in my guild and a member of the loot council, my experience has shown that a loot council system can work very well with the right people who have the right mindset. You want people who view loot as a tool for your guild to defeat more difficult raid bosses and not so much as a reward for an individual. I’m the least geared resto druid in the guild. And it’s not for lack of performance or showing up. It’s because I can’t just say, “Hey give me that because I’m the lead druid.” That wouldn’t go over well.
If you consistently raid and perform well, the loot will come.
Like I said, it all depends.

If the GM’s GF who can’t find her heal bind most fights is getting loot over you. That’s very easy to deal with lol
DPS even easier
If you can’t make an argument why you should have equal loot prio, you probalby shouldn’t have it just based on pure ignorance even if you’re doing eveyrthing you should be. lol
It’s classic WoW, there are no systems where it isn’t possible to go 3-4 weeks without loot just from luck alone.
I went without loot for the first SIX WEEKS of raiding in classic in my loot council guild, I had no issue with it, as our tanks were given prio and I understood this. The following 6 weeks the loot I didn’t receive balanced out and I was awarded several items, in addition to a bunch of set pieces people didn’t need since our tanks had.
The point being is loot is on a longer life cycle in classic than in other MMOs and your bound to have droughts or feasts and famines, especially in 40 person raids. Luck with drops among other things will dictate your loot as well, certain things are out of your loot systems control.
If you are peacing out after 3-4 weeks you basically never gave the system a shot to succeed, you took your own personal results and applied them cross the whole raid spectrum. This is actually a factor in me being in a loot council guild, I want people who are playing to improve tomorrow and see the benefits in being efficient so we can continuing building, not worried about their personal loot this week.
That is how my guild does it.
I’m in a council guild, and I’m actually on the council. I keep track of a google spreadsheet that lists who got what gear that week and update it and put it in the discord for all members to see. We try to distribute gear equally and to who makes best use of it at the same time.
I went 4 weeks without getting gear from MC or Ony because I kept passing BIS onto lesser geared healers(I am a healer) and prioritizing dps. I even opt for paladins to not get a mageblade until majority mages/warlocks get one because I think mages and warlocks will make better use of it for the most part.
Last piece of gear I got was the Onyxia shard. Was a month before I got a new piece of gear and I’m alright with that because the raid has gotten progressively better and that is my goal.

Anecdotal evidence really isn’t really adding anything.
Of course a group of people playing “non efficient” can out perform a group of people trying to play for efficiency. Skill matters.
The question to ask is would that group with the Ret pally have done even better with a more optimal group. Could 3 weeks become 2 weeks 6 days or less? Comparing 2 separate entities with no context other than calling one “elitist chokers” doesn’t really even touch anything being said in this subject.

It’s optimal to have 5 paladins for blessings. If all 5 are healers, then it restricts your other healing pool (esp priests). Shadow priests, moonkin, or feral will contribute less to the raid than a 5th blessing.
Ergo, you would have ret paladins.
I would still give the ret paladin no loot prio even if i accept the BS you spun to justify that crap spec lol
His blessing isn’t gonna change. And teh gear will do more on a war

It also depends on the person. The gear is useless if the person quits.

Wrong. I am still using Dal’Rends and out dps’ing Rogues who have Vis’kag or Brut. People are not stupid and get there is a level of gear that effects their meters.
This happens a lot, more than I’d like to believe.
Like how dense do you have to be to interpret that wrong.
We would not give loot to a brand new recruit dps warrior over someone that’s been in the guild for months or years.
