I’m sure there’s optimized paths out there, but I like to stick to classic dungeons. Then once I’m around 40 I go to WoD to replace all my heirlooms and then back to dungeons.
I think you can’t use chromie time anymore at lvl 48, but you will only be kicked out lvl 50. All your quest progress remains the same, and you can go back to the zone, it’s just that it won’t be chromie time.

Well, with the Winds of Wisdom buff currently going on, combined with war mode exp bonus - leveling in any capacity is really quick, even 50-60 on your first character is fast by simply doing the campaign quests, but I’m assuming your waiting for DF to release anyway before making any expansion purchase.
People generally seem to think 10-50 is done fastest through WoD. Dunno why but there you have it.
From what I heard (keyword), WoD is the best for questing due to all of the bonus objectives.

As long as you’re the appropriate level, you can use Chromie Time. Whatever quest you’re on remains in your log until you finish it or abandon it. You can still do most (not all) quests, at any level with or without Chromie Time.
However, I believe the bonus objectives from WoD are no longer available, once you surpass the same Chromie Time cut off point. IK this 'cause IK I did NOT complete all of them, on a Troll Hunter I have. Which sucks 'cause I won’t get the achievements for it.
It’s a mess that needs improvement. Please join us by making Chromie Time available to ALL levels and not just low levels.
I, purposefully, eliminate my XP at level 40, to remain in Chromie Time, on a plethora of toons. And, I feel like it’s ridiculous to do so. I don’t trust being able to remain in Chromie Time at level 45-48, so I cap at 40, to be on the safe side.

Like others, I have also heard WoD is the best. Considering all the extra ways to get exp, I can see that. From my personal experience, if you have a tank and a healer playing together, just chain running classic dungeons are usually much faster as you will get the short, easy low level ones constantly.
Yes, the highest level right now you can be is 49. Supposedly, that level will go up when DF comes up. That will be 59, but I am hoping, since I do not planning on buying it, I will be able to do them at level 60.
If you are at max level, the best you can do is just walk through the campaign. You do not need to be in chromie time to do old quests, you will just be stupidly buffed. I did an experiment and found out I was doing 50mil dps in WotLK zones on my main here.
So yeah, I have hopes that I can just do old dungeons since I am really not interested in DF right now. I like Wrath a lot, but I do like taking a break and doing different content.
I’ve just been turbo blasting through quests and basically get a level or two out of every cluster of quests. The more quests I can turn in at once, the better.

My method has been to do the expansions I want to run and that I remember the best.
Knowing the efficient routes and being able to blast through quests while hitting dungeons here and there, mainly to knock out final quests for different zones or chapters.
I’ve gotten a few more heritage achieves lately this way.

The intro scenario is a good chunk of XP then you can get a good deal of XP pretty quick by burning through the bonus areas in each zone. I think some people hunt treasures too but I don’t typically bother with that.
If I remember right treasure hunting was severely nerfed that it’s just not doable anymore.

Yes, Blizz nerfed everything good about treasure hunting
I get it and I see it all of the time. Personally, I think that chaining dungeons as the best way to level up is not great game design, but it does fit perfectly for those who only want to jack their toon up to max quickly.
As the oddball in the room (I love my role) I’ll tell you that I often run all the daily pet tamers in the Eastern Kingdoms. Where else can you do 14 quests in 40 minutes? Zoomy and easy, one level 25 pet will carry you through all the tamers.
Dont feel bad. All but two of my character’s are exp locked. SL did not impress me that much and I found just doing old content on characters to be more fun. I do not expect to level anyone in DF right now, so I am just hoping me level 60s can do chromie time.
