• The FF combat and combat animations are borky. Ive played off and on for some years and even went to check it out this month. I was reminded after just 4 fights why I really don’t like the combat. Its clunky or janky or something not right. It doesnt feel intuitive at all. Some combat stances look strange.
• The FF graphics are washed out; so much is bland or similar and it didn’t feel like enough variety. Here in Wow, I can go to dark and spooky zones, jungle zones, desert zones, forest zones, snowy zones, and even one zone that has one of the most beautiful cities ever in it (Suramar).
• Very low to no social side in my experiences in FF. Yeah some people play the game with friends. My friends play wow or eso. Going in with no friends and players not talking because of some rule on chat, I found myself in dead quiet quest zones and city ones had mostly crafting spam in chat. I never had anyone reach out to me as a new player or returning on. The people I DMd to say I liked their glamour or ask a question, 90% never responded. Putting things like helpful and kind in my super small player search info box thing didn’t help at all. As a new player and then returning player, I felt more alone than I’ve ever felt in Wow.
• The FF story is boring and drags. Its not engaging, it didn’t grab me, and it seemed convoluted at various points. I cant even say what happened at the end of the first expac story wise because I spam mashed the button to skip or advance the story. I didnt enjoy the story at all.
• Not enough race/appearance diversifying FF. Most body types are similar. Here in wow you can be a human or tall elf or short elf… but you can be a fierce worgen (who will get a tail before long, I know it)! Or a panda or mechanical gnome or a vulpera or curvy/or bulky goat from space! You can be a savage Orc or a wicked Undead. The race variety in Wow is great. In FF, I can be a human with cat ears/tail, human bunny, human dragon, bunny human and so on.
• So much cutscenes in FF. There were times I clicked to go into one and I walked away from my pc to get dinner. Or start my laundry. I like well thought out and engaging cutscenes. Ive found some of those in wow. In FF most were convoluted except one.
• The FF Main Character NPCs. I didn’t really care much about any of them. The game or story didn’t do much to make me care or convince me to. They were just npcs who needed me to be a gopher or go fight something and then I didn’t feel that the player is needed past that, so to speak. In Wow, I cried big tears over Varian at the start of Legion. Silverpine made me actually give a damn and become curious about Sylvanas (I still want justice though!). Watching Anduin suddenly becoming King and trying to rule, its been good to see. I feel indignation over some deaths too and how they happened. The Teldrassil quest where we had a short time to save anyone, it makes me tear up even now. We tried to save them, we tried hard and still it wasn’t enough. Its pretty obvious with these descriptions how the Wow story has moved me and THATS what I want with an MMO.
• FF class diversity isn’t enough for me. With the classes I tried, it seems like they add a gimmick later to how a class plays. Tank classes are tanks period. Theres no dps spec to them. Theres no tank spec for some dps classes and so on. In wow I adore druid and Warlock. I worked hard for my lunarwing. I really like Warlock class fantasy. I like Warlock skills and I like druid combat.
This is just some of my reasons based off my experiences.
