what is it
Im sorry, but what?
Fury = bloodthirst spam build;
Arms = bladestorm unhinged (magnusz) or rend/roar bleeds (tay);
Prot = please don’t
The last one there is pure ignorance.
Prot is not only viable, spec’d and played well, I’ve killed and out damaged most warriors I’ve faced. Yes, I know that Fury has more burst, but I also watch them get RL enraged (I get the vision of them breaking a keyboard and getting yelled at by their parents, because they’re probably in highschool) when they try to come up with reasons they died, or more often… somehow MY damage is “all cleave” in instance chat, which it isn’t. Unless morons stack for us) - which is no different for all classes.
I’ve been killed by, and killed EVERY class in the game, over the 15+ yrs, but I’ve never seen such disgusting, whining, little infants as a DPS in a rated game, pissed because they died last round when I sat on them. EEEEESPECIALLY big boy pants fury warriors. Then, somehow my “spec” should be “banned from arena” and they’re “skillcapped” - but dead.
Before you start the same crap I’ve heard for a LONG time, YES, I know that there’s not many Prot Warriors in the upper 2K rating, BUT - there’s not a lot of WARRIORS period, relative to spriests, locks, DKs, huntards or druids.
People get mad about losing to a Druid/DK/Monk/DH Tank, but they don’t brainlessly spam them telling them to reroll if they want to PVP in arena.
If a person paying, just like you, in cash or gold, wants to play this VIDEO GAME in the way they enjoy, so be it. I’ve lost WAY too many solo cues because some bad player/players (AGAIN, ESPECIALLY WARRIORS) were getting focused after we all figured out who we could nuke.
Truth be told, neither of the other two specs have a chance, without some lucky class synergy, or a hail Mary proc that flattens someone who can’t pop a DCD. Three buttons and no party benefits - you’re the Led in this Zeppelin, brother, NOT the protection warrior.
Unless you have a legit argument for the ignorance, I suggest you stop typing out ignorant stuff on forums.
Never thought I could trigger someone so hard with only two words. You have issues buddy. You should talk to someone.
Nah he was right, please don’t play prot in PvP.
Your teammates will hate you, your opponents will hate you and judging by the response by this well balanced individual you will also hate yourself.
Do everyone a favor and spec into arms or fury if you wanna pvp.
You didn’t get what I was saying at all, I think…
Why would anyone hate anyone that’s playing a game? I’m top in damage, KB’s and I’m not the one that died on your team. Is the vitriolic ignorance just envy? Is the issue that Survival Hunters…don’t survive when I sit them? I don’t see that as a bad thing.
I even had a Demo Lock tell me “Delete your account” because WE WON a skirmish, but I had to solo kill a healer and their DH tank, after the DH global’d HIM. Why is it bad to win and get loots?
If I were simply just ranting, I could understand why the response was taken as an argument, but, I assure you it isn’t. I GENUINELY want to know why people hate on classes for playing it that wins. I don’t mean cheesing a mechanic, like Ele Shammies are now, I mean just playing one of the three specs available. WTF?
Prot damage is all pad
This makes me wanna give prot pvp a try. I loved it back in early LK days.
So… Extra damage?? WTF does that mean? I genuinely don’t understand. Aren’t Warlocks or Spriests (OR EVERYONE) cleaving the hell out of everything they can, if its incidental?? So you don’t hit any ability that cleaves?? Is that what you’re saying? If so, you’re doing it all wrong. I understand saying you’re primary is single tgt against a specific toon. But, if you hurt the healer “by accident” - it STILL needs to be healed.
prot warrior doesn’t do enough pad to actually have to spend resources healing through it
So your issue is that I don’t have to be spammed with heals? Because, THAT is exactly WHY I play prot. I got sick of the res run back 20 times in a BG, or tanking the rating in someone’s arena (pun intended).
But, what I meant was that I do splash damage, like everyone else. I’ve been smashed by the buffed Ret, just because my healer was close to me and she was being focused.
It’s envy of classes/specs that can, like Demo locks, not need outside healing and don’t just fall over in a fury spamming 2 buttons? That’s just silliness.
Play what you enjoy and fits your style. Mine is having more uptime and doing more damage - y’know… winning?
No, the issue is that prots aoe is so irrelevant that it doesn’t actually force anything and is just passively healed. Its nothing but pad damage, but not even sufficient pad damage to force resources out. Just because you’re topping the damage meters means nothing if your damage profile isn’t actually leading to kills.
Prot always been the real warrior spec though. Nothing is more Warrior than destroying your enemy with a Shield.
Funny in a RSS just now this rogue talked crap so killed him the next 2 rounds as Prot everyone thought it was hilarious. Everyone was cool but this Rogue (go figure).
If we can’t play Prot in PvP no reason to even play WoW. Dps is just so boring.
What’s the build to run for prot in BGs?
You take all the damage talents in warrior tree and all the damage buffing talents for Shield Slam/Charge.
Prot warrior pvp profile really isnt bad, but, a part of the pad damage argument is true. You ARE doing alot of damage. You are an OK spec, but you arent actually putting pressure on anything during crucial damage phases. You don’t bring any extra utility over a fury/arms spec, and with the damage changes from pve to pvp you arent really any harder to kill than a fury (and come 10.0.5 arms w/ IP). Personally, i dont mind at all running with a prot warrior in 2s and 3s, but I’d still rather have a good arms player over a prot player because they can give you free burst kills, pressure when they are supposed to, and demand enemy focus. You can legitimately ignore a prot warrior if your team knows what its doing because they dont actually represent a “real threat” like their dps counterparts. They are just…there, and annoying.
To be clear, this is speaking of on arena in higher skill levels. Prot warriors at the jump of a pvp career can smash because alot of people in those brackets just dont know what they are doing period.
In this thread here is my build.
I don’t think I agree with this. You have 4 hard hitting abilities you can set up that is ontop of all your other dmg sources. Obviously Prot isn’t some S tier Dps but to say they don’t have pressure I don’t agree. You have Shield Charge, Shockwave, SS (outburst) and Sudden Death.
While I agree some here since Prot needs Shield Slam dispel back. Tclap roots is a nightmare for many specs to deal with. People whine constantly in Solo Shuffle because they can’t move or kite. Having roots on a 5 sec CD is monstrous for uptime for Dps especially other Warriors or Ret that has a hard time with uptime.
When druids, rogues, monks can’t move cause of Prot roots it’s super annoying. Tclapping a monk roll rooting them wins matches if timed right. Druids can’t powershift it. Trust me it drives people nuts.
Sure, the root is nice I completely agree, but what I meant is you arent bringing “more” necessarily, just different, utility. I can’t imagine the root outweighing arms execute pressure or furys sustained throughput. It is nice for sure. There is also speculation with the changes to arms (and specifically d stance) that Arms warriors may have the necessary points to now spec into Shockwave additionally, which would be a huge tool for Arms in PvP.
Different utility is what makes comps work though. I will add again that Prot or Tanks should get utility buffs. If Prot had SS dispel again they would be in a far more competitive spot. That’s what made Man cleave so strong.
Depends, when the enemy can’t kite around pillars or waste mobility CDs your team has more pressure.
Yea I mean Arms is still the PvP spec and don’t think anyone is debating that. However Prot still has 3 stuns and Shockwave for Prot hits significantly harder. Most people don’t expect it or it’s range and has ended many battles.
Prot is just different and more interesting and why I have mained it since TBC. There is nothing better than PvPing and doing huge damage with a Shield.
We agree there. I had fun in the first two weeks of DF running prot in PVP and i wont argue its super fun and brings a different flavor to experience.
Shockwave is definitely an overall better prot talent but adding its base stun and option to use in the arms spec will still make Arms just that much better.
Truth be told i have fun running all three specs in PvP and would like to see all three viable for play. However under the context of the op, arms is still now, and definitely in the future, my choice for best overall PVP experience/gameplay.
