After resubscribing to WoW classic recently, I discovered (like many) that my original classic character was permanently deleted and went to WOTLK servers without any notice.
This was a huge suprise, since mass deleting characters is unprecedented for blizzard.
I began leveling on classic era but soon realized that the appeal of these original classic era servers is just not there anymore for someone like me. I already leveled to 60 and got geared up on classic just for it to get thrown away. The economy is inflated, boosting is rampant, and everyone is geared with naxx gear on pvp servers.
The only way these servers would be fun is if they give people their deleted characters back (if they even still have the data from deleting them), or starting fresh realms for those who donât have their old characters anymore.
after asking about this topic on this forum, it seems that blizzard said that they are never restoring any of these lost characters but maybe they still have the data or something. Itâs a very weird move by blizzard and I donât know why they deleted them in the first place.

Myself, like many, were not subscribed to WoW during this very short period of time where you were allowed to save your classic character. Classic had just ended and many unsubscribed from the game to take a break. Furthermore, I shouldnât need to âcloneâ my character to not have it deleted. I donât want a clone of my character⌠I just want the original character on classic like I had.

It wasnât a short period of time. Also, you dropped the game by your own admission. Blizz owes you nothing more than what they already provided.
All you are is back to cash in on the hype. Youâll be gone just as fast. Stop yer cryinâ and get leveling.

You are mistaken. I am a veteran WoW player since 2004 and I always play WoW when I feel like it.
Blizzard did this because of money. They wanted people to resubscribe to the game to âsaveâ their classic WoW characters and then to promote WOTLK expansion pack.
I have taken several breaks from the game in the past and have never worried about my characters being permanently deleted with zero notice or warnings.

They were deleted. I created my characters on classic WoW herod-US and now theyâre not there. They are in an expansion pack called WOTLK involuntarily due to a corporate greedy move by blizz.

They were not deleted. The server progressed, as did your characters. You had the choice to leave them behind for over a year. You chose not to.
Maybe if i type s l o w e r it will sink into your thick skull.

Itâs a shame blizzard would throw away the characters of people who valued their product enough to play the classic version of it. Hopefully theyâll fix the problem eventually

how could a wow veteran not know what was going on during that time period? emails? bnet launcher? wow website? forums? twitter? People had ample time to choose ERA instead of progression.
I agree itâs terrible this person lost their characters because they had other priorities in life. Letâs hope blizzard fixes the problem

so now I have to read every battle.net email to see if theyâre gonna delete more of my characters? What if they want to take my gold and items too? Blizzard doesnât respect my time commitment to their product. I shouldnât have to be looking for a warning that my character is being permanently deleted.

My point is that I already have a level 60 in classic era but am unable to access it since blizzard disabled it. Starting from level 1 on a 3+ year old realm seems stupid. especially given that iâve already done this before on the exact same realm.
