Knowing that bands like Elite Tauren Chieftain and Blightboar are canon bands in the game, it seems reasonable to me that there’s probably a wide variety of musical genres that our characters could listen to. What would be your character’s favorite music? (feel free to link songs that fit in that genre!)
Not to be too obvious, but I think my character would enjoy all kinds of island music - calypso and reggae and dancehall. She would also dig Afropop and all the associated dances. (I love these genres myself, so I’m probably biased.) She’s also a huge fan of ETC, so she enjoys rock and roll as well. She has a BIG celebrity crush on their bassist Mai’kyl .
If you play through the Goblin starting zone, you can listen to a radio in your car that plays various genres of music. It’s got a variety of musical styles including, but not limited to some polka, Christmas music, classical, jazz and even some… ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC?!
But if there’s any in-univese style I think Tam would dig, it’d definitely be the Disco inspired stuff they play in the AH during the AH Dance Party microholiday. Which is apparently taken from Hearthstone’s One Night In Karazan expansion!
I imagine a lot of Draenei music is probably known for hymns and other such music.
Juspion though, he’s so obsessed with his work that I wouldn’t expect him to have any real preference for specific music style. He like just about anything that’s catchy and easy to sing along and fun to dance too. So basically into whatever the top 10 pop music charts and things like that. Like if Spotify existed in WoW, he’d just open up the current recommended summer jams playlist and listen to that.
Jokes aside, pandaren probably have a lot of Eastern music similar to the soundtracks for MoP. Jian would probably have that and some country music for working on the farm and knocking drinks back to.
Given her age I imagine Astrea would naturally tend to whatever was the popularly performed around her time; likely some manner of classical music. I currently lack the enthusiasm to speculate what Imperial Kaldorei music would actually be but I like to think there’s a lot of string and wind instruments involved.
This was fun to think about! I usually make playlists for my characters but it was fun to think about what they’d listen to.
In her downtime, I think Thelma would listen to the Azerothian equivalent of The Cog Is Dead (and not just because of the name).
But, in her workshop, I’d like to imagine that she listens to the gnomish version of k-pop, music with a great beat & a heavy electronica feel. It would help her get ‘in the zone’ without being too distracting.
In Heroes of the Storm, Medivh has a gag line about a ragtime song he used to like, which has led to my headcanon that pre-First War Stormwind had prohibition era music tastes.
Ergo, Bates likely listened to and enjoyed old style jazz. I like to imagine him dancing the Charleston and embarassing himself.
I thought this was theme songs at first but I reread it and realized this would be if they had earbuds in during their normal day to day. So my Warrior would most definitely have a metal playlist playing, and the entire daily hub would be able to hear it because it is debatable if she would have earbuds or one of those backpacks with the speaker inside of it.
Of course we start off with a couple Halocene rock covers of Billie Ellish.
She would have added this to her playlist in universe to protest either Garrosh or Sylvanas. Probably both.
Energy starts picking up later in the playlist with some more heavy songs.
Slows down a little bit when she added this song to her playlist around the same time she ICly met my Rogue storywise.
Of course she has some classics on her playlist, the old rock is some of the best to her.
Alright, that’s probably enough for now, but the trend continues cause she would have a lot of music on her playlist.
