I thought since every crafter needed the orb, you Need for it, but I was just told that everyone should Greed it. That makes no sense to me. If everyone Needs it, then nobody can “ninja” it.

Just need it, in the end its just a means to an end for crafting. The crafter will profit more off of it but the reality is its used for nothing more than to make gold or save gold.

everyone should greed it. or at least they do on westfall. its etiquette to greed it since its not a critical piece of gear. and everyone has a crafter.

I normally just wait until everyone else rolls, if someone needs it I need it too, if everyone greeds I greed. Too many groups where someone does the same but needs it when they see everyone else needed it and don’t want to give them the satisfaction of a ninjaed orb

I think this is server-by-server etiquette. I’ve been playing on Faerlina and everyone needs so I do the same. On the other servers where I have characters (Grobbulus and Earthfury) I don’t know what everyone else does yet so when I get my characters to 80 and do heroics I’d watch that and then decide what to roll from there.
On mankrik the norm seems to be greed. But i dont mind if someone requests to need it for a craft

That doesn’t make sense. Everyone greeding gives the same chance to everyone as everyone needing, but if everyone is supposed to greed that opens it up to some people being upset because somebody needed.

Everyone usually needs on frozen orbs.
It was always greed, even in original Wrath on the servers I played on. This was due to them not being BoP. Everyone could use them, but they weren’t an absolute need as they end up going for super cheap on the AH.

It’s literally the same… You just roll it between the 5man, labbel it “greef” it “need”, in the end it’s a /roll 1-100…

Not on alliance we don’t.
Nobody legitimately needs them since they aren’t bop. If you did they’re on AH or cost badges. You weren’t holding out just for that orb to drop. It’s a want/greed.
I roll after seeing what the others hit and match it. If the 5th is the only person to hit need, obvious ninja gets called out.
No care about the 50g an orb costs, it’s about principle.

That’s how it is in most groups I’ve been in as well.
- If others are greeding, greed it.
- If others are greeding but somebody needed it, need it and ask for /roll if you win it.
- If others are needing, need it.

People did this about blues in Vanilla too. I started to make it very clear in groups id form that we would be needing on Blues to do away with people Ninja looting, as theres zero benefit to leaving the option of Ninja Looting on the table out of some illogical concept of “correct looting”.

Exactly. Needing takes ninja looting right off the table. I can’t imagine why people would default to greed on Frozen Orbs – and you make a good case for BoE Blues, too.
Except that with “greed” someone can break it by needing in violation of “etiquette.” Why allow for that sort of drama? Just need them since everyone wants them equally.
