I enjoyed the idea of mythic dungeons but I’m turned off by the idea of ‘beat the clock’ to this day. I don’t enjoy the idea of skipping past mobs, pulling as large as possible and cleaving down everything in a pack, and the same ole’ reliable classes/specs that favor this environment.
I really do miss the idea of using cc, pulling smartly, and not having the ‘Go go go’ mindset.
It seems maybe torghast, albeit inadvertently, could end up being that for me and my friends who aren’t looking to be pressured by a clock to enjoy a bit of small group content we can achieve things together in.
I’d like to see a feature in the game similar to mythics, perhaps a variation, that doesn’t focus on a timer but just completing a challenging dungeon in general. As, it seems to me anyways, there’s a large chunk of content missing from the game for people who don’t like that timer mindset for dungeons.
This isn’t a shot at anyone who enjoys current iteration of mythic + btw.

That is going to be a really good question about Torghast. Is it the return of slow and steady content.

I don’t dislike the “beat the clock” timed runs. That idea in itself can be fun. What I don’t like, is that it is the exclusive challenge / endgame content. To have it as an option in addition to just a scaled up dungeon with better loot but harder enemies, I think would be a good idea. Then if you beat the timer you get a bonus.

Agreed.
I like the current mythic + system now and then, but I’m not in love with it the way I would be if it’s difficulty were to be scaled higher and the timer be removed (Instead rewarding the completion over the speed in which it was done).
I do it because it’s all there is to do, but I would definitely like another option.

I feel like the mega dungeons of Kharazan and Mechagons design are the closest you’ll ever get to Classic style dungeons.

They won the race and are resting at home.

When I say ‘what happened to them’ it implies that they were lost along the way and it’s something I’d like to see brought back. The WoW Classic reply was inevitable but it’s not something blizzard couldn’t realistically create a system to bring back.

You don’t have to beat the timer to keep going.

I hate mythic+ because of that timer
I dont mind challenges but I’ve always hated having a clock on me in video games

Sure, but the mindset of the general player base is to do so. Of course with close friends and such this isn’t an issue necessarily but the mindset of the mythic + system from Blizzard’s mindset is that it is rewarding a fast pace where I think the option to turn it off altogether would be welcomed.

So you basically just want to hide the clock from your ui?
slow and steady has a place. I personally don’t like it that much at all, but if you’re doing relevant level keystones to your gear with other players who are also appropriately geared, you can typically go at whatever speed you’re comfortable with and still complete it in time.
I’ve got serious questions if you can’t beat most dungeons in around 35 minutes tbh. things either went extremely wrong or you were going afk or something.
I wholeheartedly concur. As someone who ran a great amount of heroic dungeons back when they were the best 5 man game in town, I feel like the timer has shut me out. I end up doing LFR instead, even though I prefer 5 man content the timer is a huge turnoff. I’ve yet to even try mythic+, it just feels super toxic with that timer, I hate gogogo attitudes as it is, so implementing that as part of the experience makes it a hard pass for me. I heard they’re nerfing the gear from it, and I could really care less because it’s non-content to me.

I think you would be in the minority of players who want that kind of style to come back. Even in classic its all about getting buff capped and speed running raids / dungeons as fast as possible.
Not sure when this really took hold, don’t see it going away either.
If it takes you more than ~30minutes to figure a dungeon out after the 20th time doing it I feel bad for you. There’s no speed running in WoW. It’s in your head.
The only time I remember dungeons being designed with an overly slow pace was Cataclysm heroics. And that was only because many pulls required positioning or coordinated CC.
But people whined endlessly how hard Cata heroics were and they got nerfed severely by the time 4.3 was released.

Ion just sent me a hidden Mythic dungeon one can access by finding clues hidden in other mythic dungeons.
The concept art anyway:

We tried this, after aoe fest that was WOTLK heroic dungeons people complained.
“We want our hard heroic dungeons back with CC and kill orders, and blackjack, and hookers” they all called. And blizzard listened, so here came Cataclysm launch heroic dungeons and everyone screamed bloody murder about how hard they were to pug, how everyone was suddenly the worst player you’ve ever seen, etc.
Beating the timer on a mythic+ dungeon is a completely optional experience. If you want to take a group of friends and take 40 minutes to complete a mythic zero you are more than welcome to. But what kind of reward do you think is appropriate for a dungeon you had forever to complete vs one where you had to know mechanics, and react on the fly within a timer? This is why that style won’t work, no one will want to do it when (rightly) inferior rewards would be on offer.
Also let’s stop pretending like having to take 15 seconds before every pull to mark and CC mobs requires skill or is interesting. The mobs stand there waiting for you to do it. M+ setup requires timing and spreading out CC’s, prioritizing interrupts, and doing reasonable damage for your gear level to be successful. It is a significantly more interesting and kinetic challenge and much easier to assign rewards to based on a sliding scale.

this is pretty much all that needs to be said. m+ isn’t “speed speed go go go go” for everyone, and that’s fine. it’s literally why they scale up infinitely; so that the content is relevant for every level of gear and skill. if you can’t complete a 10 in time, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just out of your gear or skill range which should be drive to improve, imo
