What WoW Could Learn From FFXIV

Yeah, so this is completely untrue considering I’ve explored content in savage mode and have been a long-time player of each game. You do not have to agree with me, nor does it mean Yoshi would either. It’s just a personal opinion of how I have felt playing each MMO.

There’s plenty to do: “You just HAVE to do the story first.” That was exactly my point.

This was a comparison of how each MMO could learn from the other. I stand by my comparison here.

Actually, it’s not fact. See here:

It is apparently bugged for some folks, but not for others. Many people can still post after their sub lapses.

What could WoW learn from fFXIV is listen to their playerbase and not chase them away.

I’d want them to take FF14s crafting system but this would also mean they need to give us player housing.

The reason every crafter in FF14 can do so well in the market is because 1.) They actually have useful stuff to craft and 2.) housing makes it so that every crafter has highly sought after furniture to craft.

WoW’s crafting is just…awful and not in a funny way.

Though you can have every class on 1 character so you don’t need alts to play other classes. Which is a trade off, its not like WoW where if you want to change class you have to create a new character. You just equip a different weapon.

They are planning to increase the exp gains it gives after level 50 so you can level up fast through the 2.0 content so you might hit 58 by the time you finish it, meaning you can breeze through Heavensward MSQ and that too will give exp based on your level so you may hit 64 by the time you get to Stormblood.
Pretty much to ease that sore spot.

You no longer do, this has been stated multiple times with the forum changes and with the Classic Forums.

Not a bug was changed in April so you no longer need a subscription to post on the general forums, I do believe their was a Blue Post saying so.

Then those that are bugged will be flagged by me to inform Blizzard of the bug.

FFXIV only does this because you have one character, so your alternate jobs have literally no quests to do because you did them all on your main. So you do events, and dungeons, and hunting logs, and random other grindy things because that’s all you have access to. So of course they get bonus XP because the design is bad to begin with.

Another thing WoW could use that FFXIV just implimented fully in its latest expansion: Trust parties. You can run dungeons with an entirely npc party. Imagine how much time this would save DPS players, and the anxiety it would save new tanks and healers!

It is the same thing…

I mean you’re posting here so clearly you’re still paying for WoW, which begs the question why if you’re not playing?

False. These forums no longer require an active sub to post in.

I do like the duty system a lot. It means all the old dungeons are still relevant even at max level. It’s great variety of content at least.

Absolutely agree with everything here except for the subscriber rewards, which I think contribute to the reward over stimulation happening all across the industry right now. Please stop just handing players things, we want to work for them. That’s what makes things fun. Being handing rewards constantly, all the time leads to boredom and makes games feel like a chore to get a reward rather than a fun journey.

But yeah, reading all this it brings into sharp focus some of the extremely anti-consumer policies Blizzard enacts.

Why am I not surprised flying was one of the first things on this list.

Wow already has an “Armory BOnus” in the form of Heirlooms.

Subscriber Rewards in FF14 were meh. ANd generally just took up space.

Pathfinder is fine, the only issue with pathfinder is how long it was between 8.0 and 8.2.

The difference is that you either pay separately for the mount, or you lock in 6 months of sub for the WoW mount.

In FFXIV, you just sub, and you get the rewards as you go.

False I was unsubbed for 3 months and could still post. There was a Blue Post saying these changes though I don’t feel like digging it up. Feel free to!

I remember linking you a Blue post in another thread where they Blue post said you no longer needed to be subscribed to post on the forums.

:expressionless: Another post about FF14. Anyone feeling like just giving up at times on this community.

This is a really weird position to hold being that we have a very similar system in heirlooms (though the bonus is a bit less)

Edit: Theres also almost no reason to roll an alt in FFIV so making it easier is more or less necessary or no one would ever do it.

This only exists in FFXIV because you level all of your alt classes on the same character, but no longer have any quests to do that with because you’ve used them on your first class.

Leveling alt classes in that game is -literally- a grind, hence the help.
