See that’d be cool too
Like Asterix bard, tied to a tree and gagged not to sing…
Healer would be flute, harp, singing. Tank would be drums, trumpet, Chanting. Dps would be electric guitar, fiddle, screamo.
So yeah classic D&D style.
I’d want a Bard class to wear chainmail.
A DPS/buff spec and a Healer spec.
Could use instruments as a means to cast spells (or voice?). One buff per Bard. Mitigations, armor, damage output, haste, etc…
“Discord Note” could be a standard damager, “Echoing Song” could be a dot (or a hot in healer spec), while something like… idk, “Jaunty Tune” could be a channeled spell similar to the Monk channeled heal spell. Have the Classic’s tavern song playing while using Jaunty Tune.
Weapons would be… 1-handed swords/axes/hammers, crossbows (hunters can have these, too), daggers and class-only instruments. (Only DHs get Warglaives, only Bards would get instruments, though maybe have some ‘stance’ for others to use it that would end upon combat.)
too much melee specs already on this game. next class needs to be ranged only.
A bow/gun user. Heal and range support DPS (even as DPS it would be a low DPS spec with high support for healers/DPS) only. Could even see it being a class with no set spec.
Uses a rage-style mechanic where they build a resource and then spend it on a channeled effect that heals and/or buffs allies or debuffs enemies. The contribution to their buff/debuff would count on meters similar to how the legendary ring tracked in WoD.
Basically a bard would always be looking to do specific actions that best suited the raid/group and then picked a “finisher” of sorts that best met the situation. So if there was a healing check coming up, a bard could bank their rage resource to channel a tranquility type heal or maybe a damage mitigation aura song…or maybe there is a damage check and the bard could instead sing a crit buff song or maybe a damage taken debuff song for enemies/adds.
The problem with a pure support class/spec is it violates the holy trinity and either becomes mandatory at the top level or useless. It is the reason why “hybrids” don’t exist in WoW though you can see Blizzard is making attempts at breaking the trinity by giving certain healers fairly strong DPS and healing and tanks all using an active mitigation model that favors decent DPS also.
Big Kul’tiran men in too tight of tights playing mandolins and singing down all the dirt roads in Stormsong Valley
You basically sing songs to buff your party and debuff the enemy it is a support role that doesn’t really fit with wow.
If WoW had bards, I can see it dropping a lot of HoTs and DoTs depending on spec. Definitely would have a healer, probably 2 dps specs.
I could see one of those specs having a pet. Enthrall your enemy—or maybe a single, repeatably summonable servant—with your melodies!
“Very intensely stare at the target at your play your flute—causing them to flee in terror for 5 seconds.” I guess I’m just creating a warlock 2.0 :\
Archeage had a pretty good bard system.
Reminds me of something you can do in Warframe
I want to play Enter Sandman on my Bard as i smash some Horde faces!
I love hunter horn in monster hunter. A big ol horn you smash monters with while stilll being able to bring bluffs to the party. Should be a mail wearer, maybe an off tank. Could heal, but the best part is the REPUTATION GAIN. Also, maybe able to charm questgivers out of doing the quests because of your awesome charisma.
like hunter but with songs, with special attacks that bring up a guitar hero fretboard and you have to play the song
better you play it the better the effects
I think Rift did the bard class very well. It is a support class with buff capabilities, minor healing, and dps boosting buffs plus much more. If you haven’t seen it , i would suggest checking it out. Just my opinion but probably the best most versatile class in that game.
