Omg, is that really a game
I’ve always liked the idea of a bard tank. I’m not sure how that would mechanically work, but thematically it’s glorious.
The bard tank taunts mobs by playing diss tracks of them.
I sort of want something like this… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMf6NdM55ws
It’s a different game but It’s something I would like in a dps bard. Spellcaster ranged sound magic and maybe water and lighting to combo with buffing and healing.
If there were bards, would the music they play be determined by character race? If so, I think I’d want to be Horde. There’s only so much tingling crystal new-agey music I can take.
Sorry, not sorry. Bard, I imagine, would be very heavy support class which isn’t going to work out. I mean, you will probably get bored already within minutes of playing Bard. However, I want new talents. It’s about damn time to get talents we want such as Shammy tank or Light-type ranged dps for Priest. [Don’t give me Disc crap.]
They would be a support buff class, their songs would give small aura buffs to stats while doing some ranged DPS but not very high or in the top 5…basically FF14’s version. Cut power for support but still have some damage.
LOL, wiped to a swing at the end, classic. ALWAYS LOOK AT CAST BARS!
Was there a pun there? I dont get it.
All of these scenarios sound hilarious and amazing.
Heavy metal accepts all.
haha, yes. It’s a pun. In D&D, one of the Bard’s first spells (and best spells) is called Vicious Mockery. It deals psychic damage with the power of witty insults, proving words do hurt.
Honestly, I want a Bard similar to Bard’s Tale.
You get a certain number of songs before you have to drink (something to give alcohol a real use), weapons that are also instruments (lutes, horns, mandolins, etc.) maybe have a magical effect.
I wouldn’t know all the details, but I bet they could figure it out.
Doesn’t need to be. Bard’s in Bard’s Tale were more like SpellSwords than anything else.
It could work.
I’d love a bard class or spec (it would fit best with mage or rogue; I also had the idea that mistweaver could have instead been lorewalker and that’s kind of a bard) …but it doesn’t fit. Or rather, if they implemented it properly it would be broken: Imagine if a resto shaman could stealth and offer shroud.
Eh? You can make an entire orchestra.
everquest’s bards played the lute, mandolin, flute, hand drum, seashell, horn. every instrument had songs/spells associated with it exclusively. though some songs didnt need an instrument and were said to be just singing. no actual music would play, just fx indicating a song was playing and the fx of the song itself, which varied in color and other fx, depending on the song.
i thought for wow maybe it could be a shaman spec, where their totems are drums, each associated with a school of songs. if fire drum employed, the group gets a fire shield, fire spells have additional damage, fire enchants are more effective. for earth, the group gets extra hp, more armor, fel and nature spells are more effective, enchants also. for water, holy and frost spells are more effective, and the enchants also. for air, arcane and shadow more effective.
and that’s just one song type. there could also be a song that increases attack power. a song that makes the group invisible. doesnt work in pvp tho a song that increases the run speed of the group doesnt work in pvp tho. a song that taunts. a song that aoe dots. etc.
make 'em tough and you got yerself a shaman-bard tank.
An lovable joke npc, like Johnny Awesome, that you have to keep from dying at your own peril. ^.^
My main job in FF14 is Bard and I enjoy it. Similar to hunter, only… interesting and engaging.
to me bards are mostly support classes meaning healers/buffers/debuffers. in some games they are mandatory for raiding because of the debuffs/buffs they provide are unique to that class only and extremely valuable.
only games i played with bards in um were archers basically who used harps/guitars to buff/debuff/heal via songs. they were typically mid range healers though meaning they were not melee but not range as well they had to stay in the middle. other games i played have healers like this but they are not bards they are like shamans almost.
i think it would make an interesting shaman spec and make it a tank. so you’re buffing the group/yourself and tanking in the spec. shaman-bard tank.
