What will happen to the Era servers after the launch of Fresh?

I just started a character on Era last week. How will the launch of Fresh servers affect the Era ones?

Itā€™ll still be there. Nothing is happening with era servers already established.

Last time, era died with the release of TBC / SOD.

I expect the same this time. Era was only populated anyways because of the HC folks, that highjacked the realms in 2023. Before that, we had like 30 people online in the evening.

These new realms will be highly populated for a while, when TBC hits they will either close down, merge with old era or transition fully into TBC.

So we can expect the population to decrease with the launch of Fresh?

yes. but not completely and only for a few months.

I hope weā€™ll be able to move/copy to Era againā€¦

They should stay the same and hopefully with fewer ā€œunintended changesā€ from now on. So your character will be fine.

Things will be quiet for sure but Era is supposed to be more of a ā€œforeverā€ thing that has ebbs and flows.

tf? When they fixed the god awful pvp honor system that was literally bad for peopleā€™s health the game was booming for a bit.

Legit zero rank to 14 booming

Sounds like it could be worth continuing to invest some time in Era characters since theyā€™ll be more persistent. Keep them as a fallback.

Hopefully when TBC 2 hits in a year, weā€™re first given the option to copy/clone some characters to the existing Vanilla/Era servers, even if itā€™s a paid option.

Canā€™t see why they wouldnā€™t allow that. Many want it and itā€™s free money for Blizzard.

Probably on the era server next week a /who will return 0 results.

A lot of the levelers will leave.
People with established characters/guilds wonā€™t leave.

Youā€™ll be leveling with peopleā€™s alts rather than peopleā€™s mains.

they will experience a massive but temporary decrease in population until fresh ends in approximately 1 year. then a lot of people will transfer their characters to era and keep playing there again :expressionless: this is the life cycle.

They will still exist but they will be a ghost town. If you just started a character id use it as familiarization and get ready for fresh.

I started this character a couple of weeks ago, and I agree with what people are saying about population. I do not think Era will ā€œdieā€ ofc, but the population will be reduced for sure when it comes to people leveling out in the open world.

SW and Org will still have people in them sitting around in t3, and ofc people will still be spamming boosts and GDKPs in chats.

I see it as a win win. The people that participate in the gkccp thing all seem to want fresh and are moving off of era.

Legacy of Grobbulus Classic Era will remain, and we welcome any heroes to join our ranks. Nothing against Fresh ā€” Iā€™m excited itā€™s happening for everyone. For those looking for a long term home in Vanilla WoW, one who does not subscribe to GDKPs or meta try hard min/max culturesā€¦ welcome home.

I am really interested to know the fate of Classic Era. It seems it is glossed over, and all of the different editions now are super confusing for those of us returning to the game.

I am on Whitemane now, not hardcore, and it has been packed consistently on both Alliance and Horde. If anything, Iā€™d like a permanent Classic Era for TBC and Wrath.

Yeah I just started on whitemane a little over a week ago and I was surprised at how many people I saw in the starting areas.
