This is basically an issue since 2007 and we have it again here in 2022. Why do we have wait times for your servers in 2022? This should not be an issue and I do not see how this will be healthy to maintain in 3 weeks when WotLK is live.
We really need a blue post on this matter to confirm that Blizzard is putting some financial effort to address the server wait times so we do not have this on the 26th of September or this will be yet another example of blizzard not doing what is needed to support their customers. Please stop trying to one up Verizon as the worst customer service providers and be the Blizzard North we want you to return to being like. I am not one to push to returning to the past, but its 2022 and Blizzard still has server problems. SMH.

Spoiler alert: They will do nothing. Classic has always been the most profit for the least investment. They do not care about classic. In fact, they probably hate it.

They closed down our servers and sent us to megaservers only to wait for hours and hours and hours to simply log on

Spoiler alert: They offered free transfers so you can go play on a server without a queue.
They did something, you just don’t like the action they took.

Here’s why you’re incredibly unintelligent, boring and trolling with this take.
Blizzard has shown their history with managing dead/dying realms. Basically everyone that took a free transfer ended up on a server with no players after 3-6 months. Blizzard took over a YEAR to merge SOME dead realms. There are still several realms with less than 100 active players on them and that doesn’t even include people that are trapped on 99% opposite faction dominated realms with nobody to play with.
Those players only option is to PAY blizzard to xfer to a realm with players on it so they can play the game again. Imagine being a player that xfers off only to have nobody to play with in 3 months and have to pay 25 per toon to come back?
I have already had to xfer from a dead realm once and I know many others that have done it 1-2 times now. We’re not going to keep giving blizz hundreds of dollars for problems they are creating.
Especially when queue times are 100% artificially inflated. Benediction has 2-3 layers at most.
Faerlina on TBC launch, one of the biggest servers in the game at the time had NO queue, 38 layers and minimal lag while experiencing a DDOS
So, it’s absolutely possible to increase server capacity right now. Blizzard is just making more problems to rake in more xfer money. The thing is we know this trick now, they have a bad track record. People will just quit.
Stop defending blizzard. It’s cringe.

Blizzard profits from this problem because of Paid Xfers. They make the problem as worse as possible. Then they offer “free” xfers to crappy realms, that inevitably cause people to use a paid xfer to get off later.
They have no incentive to fix this problem because they’ll lose $
To actually “fix” this problem though, they have two options:
-
Properly manage server populations: This ship has largely sailed and is kind of hard to fix at this point. Blizz has shown they are incapable/unwilling to do this.
-
Use modern retail sharding and de-emphasize the importance of realms : They’ve already bastardized classic at this point anyways, and this would eliminate the queues.
Both options will cause blizzard to lose $$ and are unlikely – they need to exploit those wow addicts looking for their drip as best as possible

I just went to log in for a bit, only to get hit with 9000 person queue. 175 min wait. Completely unacceptable.

Because the action they took wasn’t enough by any stretch of the imagination. You’re being intentionally contrarian to the issue because you want to be on your pedestal.

4 hours later, I finally just got on. The ineptitude is incredible.

Just once? I have paid my way off many dead servers at this point, and I hold Benediction people most responsible for that. So not too much sympathy here.
And the way Sulfuras is trending, I don’t see it dying any time soon. If it does far from now, tough luck and roll with the times. A potential $25 in the future is a small price for being able to play the game.
But people want to be stuck in this mindset that everywhere but Bene is dead and they’re afraid to even try.

It’s not 25 dollars for a lot of us. I have 6 max level characters. So, it’s not a small price to pay. And tbh for a lot of people 25 dollars isn’t either. So, maybe take your privilege and your inability to see outside your own personal experiences and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.

I am an altoholic myself, so I get it. You move the most important ones and pay to come back later when (hopefully) it’s not a terrible queue anymore.
Getting OFF Bene is free. So you have plenty of time to budget if you want to pay and go back…
Lol.
I have done the thing I am suggesting plenty of times in the past, including taking a free xfer off my retail realm during Cata launch queues.
And you can have a conversation without getting uncivil.
Just like the TBC Launch, theyll increase the amount of layers. As of now Benediction has 5 layers. But in the TBC Launch i saw upwards of 40 layers, with minimal problems.

Yes, I think so too. Right now the layers are just tighter because they DO want to compel people to move from the overcrowded realms and lessen the burden. Grobb has 4 layers but I have seen more in the past.
Burden being that even without a queue, one server running that massive population has drawbacks, such as a laggy AH.
Lol good one.
You’d be screwed if you had material.

Server queues are the only amount of effort blizzard will put into server balance.
I have no idea how this became a discussion about server balance. I could not care at all about server balance.
This discussion is about what will they do about the server ques. It really only affects people in the evening and night and weekends. However, that is no excuse for this crap. When other games today can have hundreds of thousand of people log into their servers, why is Blizzard having a hard time with 30k-35k people que into Faerlina/Bene/Gob?
To transfer your character is not the issue, they need more RP-PvP servers. Consolidate all low into 1 and increase the size capability of the servers to 100k. If you have have 10 dead servers that hold 30k per, that is 300k wasted spots. Just shrink the number of servers to what is needed, increase the capacity of those and problem solved.

LOL yes, coming from the person who called me a Karen, you sure have so much material.
You find 175 min queue times a fine business practice for a multi billion dollar company and an 18 year old game. Yes, clearly, I am the one who should be the subject of your ridicule and anyone else complaining are just a bunch of Karens.
