As the title says, what was your most memorable vanilla moment? For me, It had to be world PvP in STV at level 40. I know it’s extremely generic, but I remember sitting there for hours with groups of people and just having straight up fights, forgetting that I was wanting to level that day.
Being award my guild’s first and only Zin’rokh drop.
Stv. World pvp being ganked by a shaman. Called guildies in to help had a 30+ vs 30+ guild war over it.
South Shore vs Tarren Mill
Getting the beta invite…
Being a dwarf as my first character, making the long trek to Darnassus to meet my best buddy, the night elf. At the top of the tree we both decided to see if we could actually jump off. And we could. And died. It was a long, glorious fall.
Tanking dungeons as a warrior and getting complimented on how good I was and how easy the dungeons went compared to their previous experiences. I didn’t think I was all that good either, but helping others and learning the game together was awesome.
Man, I had so many. But I guess being the first Warrior on server to get Bonereaver’s Edge from Ragnaros.
I passed on a bunch of weapons up until that point because I was holding out for it. It was really rewarding to finally get it.
First Ragnaros kill.
Attacking and killing 4 mid-50s Horde in Westfall. I believe I just hit rank 10, so I was in full PVP blues plus Unstoppable Force. Was not easy, but damn that was satisfying.
Learning about it for years, then finally being able to play the demo. It fascinated me because it truly felt like a real, living world.
Meeting a female undead warlock named Mirnajester while leveling on my undead mage in Arathi Highlands. We quested through Vanilla into TBC. She was awesome.
Night Elf Hunter. Level 6. Walking to Stormwind via Wetlands. Friend (level 42) says, “Hang on… I’ll kill this.”…
“It was level 22.”
W.T.F.???
Downing Rag first week after launch.
Getting to Commander rank in PVP and being eligible for the Epic PVP mounts.
What really made the morning memorable though was it happened the day the Naxx patch went live and the undead invasion was occurring in Stormind. I had to fight my way out of Stormwind through the skeletons and abominations to go buy the riding skill in Eastvale logging camp and then I had to fight my way back through the undead into Stormwind to purchase the my black warhorse.

Sitting behind the Gurubashi Arena for 4 days killing and skinning Jungle Stalkers for the 70G I needed for my mount.

Killing Ragnaros for the first time with a raid, twice. Once with my first Raid team, Storm as a line healer, then with again with the raid team we formed from Thunder and Storm’s extensive bench, Tempest, which I led.
Running around STV with PW:S always up because of those pesky rogues.
My most memorable vanilla moment was at Blizzcon 2005. My guild was fighting Ragnaros and I was playing on my laptop in the hotel lobby next to a bunch of real-world friends. I was spamming my shadow bolts, as you do, and I had my new Blizzcon pet, Murky, at my side. And then, in the middle of the fight, Murky started doing the Michigan J. Frog dance. I yelled for all my friends to come look.
And then we downed Ragnaros, our first Ragnaros kill. We were all so chuffed.
And then our lead rogue won the epic dagger that Ragnaros dropped, and immediately /gquit to join a more leet raiding guild, before even leaving the instance.
Meeting my spouse.
2nd go through MC and clear. My guild basically got broken in Naxx shortly after clearing Saph I think it was. Anyways, with only a few of our primary raiders left, we had to start over. Gearing up and running 30+ new raiders felt so bland. It didn’t feel special because we had been through so much content already, and felt like a farm day every raid.
BUT… When we cleared rag and all those brand new raiders went ballistic and cheered their heads off, it felt special again. I was excited because they were excited. It really made the second go at BWL feel like less of a waste, since the few of us OGs left didn’t need any gear. Seeing those people light up was just… awesome…
