What was your most memorable vanilla moment?

I have so many but one that I’m comfortable sharing would be getting the freezing band ring (epic ring) around level 42 in tanaris off a buzzard! I didn’t hesitate to equip it even tho it could have been sold it was my first epic and I was so surprised! I wore it going into bc even

I was showing someone how you can climb up high in the hills along the north end of the barrens around level 20ish and accidentally fell into Demon Fall Canyon in Ashenvale where the mobs were skull to me. Death run time. LoL

Doing Deadmines. it was mine and everyone else’s first time down there. The Van Cleef fight fell apart as it went on, trying to kite down the ramp after the healer died. All the Paladin survival tools resulted in me being the last one alive, That’s when we found out that if you died during a boss fight, you couldn’t loot the quest item.

That was changed a bit later, you could still loot if you didn’t release while the boss was alive.

Me and that Warrior, Machlan, remained friends for much of the rest of Vanilla. He would later ask me to join his group for Ony, and we got our first kills of her together.

The night I got Ashkandi on my warrior. No drop in wow before or after that made me more excited over an item than I was for that sword.

The Black War Steed has always been one of my favorite mounts. It just looks cool.

Paid 2000 Honor for mine back in the day.

Walking up to Ironforge as a night elf… on that loooooong trek

I was on an AV binge. Was up for 30 hours(I had severe insomnia and anxiety, and sometimes just riding it out till I passed out was best). Three games back to back in a 24 hour period. Third game I took a 4 hour nap only to come back to the same game. Man. LOVED that so much. So cool. No regrets.

Getting the Flurry Axe off a random mob in Desolace at 35. I decided to 49 twink Fury(this was my highest character).

This one particular WSG, some random priest decided to heal bot me - I didn’t die once and got 32 kills, he only died twice. After a while people started to realize I wasn’t going to die, so they teamed up on the priest, and I just tore them apart, was so much fun protecting him and playing around each other.

So many…

Most of my time questing through Duskwood, WPL and EPL, first full-clear of Blackrock Depths (that took 8 hours,) etc.

Battling the Horde in Hillsbrad when the honor system released, and then battling them again in the old Alterac Valley.

A guildmaster on his alt got ganked in Hillsbrad Foothills that eventually escalated to 2 full raids on each side rolling between Tarren Mill & Southshore for around three hours. #GoodTimes

I’ll never forget that Hunter that took my Tuskarr Sword way back in the day when we grouped in a cave in Searing Gorge…

My first blue drop… Was one of the giant spiders near the Warsong lumber camp.

Now blues are vendor trash and orange gear is given out as participation trophies… Ahh the good ol’ days.

My first few days playing were the best! Started a few months before BC released so I got to experience some vanilla.

Very first MMO & very first character. Human mage making it out of the starting zone not knowing wtf to do! Getting lost and wandering into Duskwood, dying repeatedly because of it. But it felt like an adventure and it was so much fun. Meeting people early on that I would play with for years to come. Still my best gaming experience to this day and no AAA game has ever been able to match it.

Never-ending Alterac Valley battles. It was such an epic moment when you finally summoned that giant tree or rock dude to fight with your faction. Too bad we’re not getting the real AV in Classic.
