What Was Your First Anime?

Fullmetal Alchemist (the first one, not Brotherhood) is the first anime I sought out and streamed.

If I want to be 100% honest as a ~5 years old kid in Québec I also watched Les Mystérieuses Cités d’Or et Sous le Signe des Mousquetaires back on Saturday mornings in the early 90s, but I don’t think they should count. Then I suppose we should also count Pokemon and Digimon 10 years later, and that feels like cheating.

Does Re-Boot count as an anime?

Project a-ko followed by vampire hunter d

Brotherhood i was like…cool this is an updated version… then after episode 15ish was like… who are these ninja guys???

What scar did on FMB to nina.

What has a BE got to do with anime? lol

And my first would technically be pokemon as a kid, but then my first real anime would be Death Note.

What scarred me? FMAB and FMA Shou and Nina Tucker :sob: Eeeeeddwaaarrrd :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:

2003 FMA

Well unless you count Pokemon.

2003 FMA

:sob: Please don’t make me say her name

And yes even though it was years later, I did watch FMAB eventually.

Oh god, it’s already been said! WHY?!

:sob: :sob: :sob:

Yeah, same feeling as watching Rebuild of Evangelion after the first :yum:

Anyway…

Also what anime scarred you for life? Probably stuff like Elfen Lied or Gantz, I suppose. Gantz more for the squick than anything. Or Shiki. You can’t watch Shiki and not side with the Vampires in the end, imo. It’s gonna cement one’s opinion that humans are bastards something fierce, right quick.

Gomen! I had to, the OP asked! xD

First actual exposure: The Big O
First one I cared about and got me into the genre: Fruits Basket

omg I forgot about this, I have to agree big time. So. Many. Feels. Also Angel beats was extremely cry inducing.

I mean, there’s Great Dad Shou Tucker in FMA… and then there’s Best Dad Bondrewd in Made in Abyss :yum:

Berserk is the first one I remember, but it was probably Record of Lodoss War or some other weird thing we picked up from Blockbuster.

I almost quit FMA right then and there. No other anime has made me feel physically sick.

Not really an avid anime fan, but I think in the 1990s/1980s (can’t remember) it was something like Devilman, it was on VHS, and in a Manga section of the video store.

Excluding stuff from saturday morning cartoons. Trigun

I’m not even sure I can list it here. BNP is the initials. That’s all I’ll say.

hard to tell… was either pokemon, or cardcaptor sakura. then came digimon, and medabots, monster-rancher, and beyblade… lot of good-ish kids anime back in the day. …then dragonball z- no wait! first anime i ever saw, was sailor moon! hated it, but it was the earliest one i can think of.

Bible Black, Someone I knew recommed me to see it. And he said that it was about witches and rituals, and To me was interesing.

My face of suprise, when I discover new “experiences” was priceless.

Now, Beign Honest: Was YU-GI-OH 4KIDS butchered edition. Was very fun, didn’t knew that those where anime. I had like what ? 8 maybe

Thanks, I’m about to feel real old.

My first “anime” (though I didn’t know what anime was at the time) was Robotech, the Americanised version of the Macross anime. I also had Speed Racer, Astro Boy, and Samurai Pizza Cats in that same era. Later I had Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, etc.

The first actual anime that I watched knowing it was an anime was Chobits.

I’ve got 2: Akira & Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend

Don’t judge me.

Akira is at least gorgeous to look at. I swear some scenes look rotoscoped BUT THEY’RE NOT. IT’S THAT WELL DONE

Dragon Ball Z, it was huge here in Brazil back in the day and I guess Dragon Ball still holds some merit here because of Super have aired on Cartoon Network.
