Like did they need to exist at all for the story?
Was their own xpac and they stopped being relevant after the first 2 zones and never did anything else

Probably to give Horde a Dwarf race because the Alliance received a High Elf race.

And then they didn’t give them the OP dwarf racial so horde still got nothing

Same can be said for most of the plot points coming from TWW. Very disjointed and barely related.
Earthen, an already bland and uninspired playable race became irrelevant to their own launch xpac before the first content patch. Theyre by far the least played race ever introduced by a large margin

I thought the earthen would be cool, but they’ve been a let down. I never see any of them and they seem completely unnecessary to the story.

They seem unnecessary, but they are the start of the entire story… according to lore. I just think the writing didn’t explain that well enough.
Still, I’d rather have playable venthyr.

I like Earthen, they are growing on me now that I leveled one and did a lot more of their quests.
I will say they stopped being relevant as soon as 11.1 hit, and 11.2 didn’t help.
I feel like it’s more of them being a victim of TWW being 3 expansions in 1 more than anything else.

Becoz there were silly guys in Shadowlands criticizing on what happened to the Big Sword in Silithus. They were not satisfied with its BFA Azerite story behind.
And who are living underneath Silithus? There you have it. Do you think they would make another Elven Race or make Tauren, or Orc who lives above the Earth to be there “under the Earth”. It has to be a dwarf.
They are all made up stories. What matters is the GAME.

They possibly exist mainly so that I can have a dwarf-adjacent horde side and thus be lured into playing more of that faction. 
I am the main character in this game, right?..right? 
Earthen are okay, but I wish Dark Irons had been horde or neutral to be honest though…

5 people asked for Earthen on the forums back in WOTLK and they saved that one in their back pucket and thought that would bring people in.
Unfortunately since that time they added sneks and a bunch of other races people would rather have and thought this would do it for sure.
It was also to add Dwarves to Horde.
