What the hell to do with the Forsaken

I feel like this sepulcher stuff is going along the same lines as how people would supposedly be surprised over Teldrassil’s burning; everyone’s trying to find subversive or clever plot twists in a game where just last expansion, Azshara quoted an old god prophecy verbatim about Magni being a diamond pawn.

If we’re talking physical survival, there are only two options compliant with the two-faction MMO, period: take Maldraxxus’ knowledge of pristine necromancy, or just forget about the issue entirely.

The latter has been done ever since Blizzard dropped Sylvanas original post-Cata arc, so who’s to say they won’t just keep doing it?

Ha! If they were boring it’s because they weren’t present enough in the story. Literally every occurrence of a forsaken character brings me joy.

Minor characters like shademaster Kyrin, Tehd Shoemaker, and Bat-rider Cullen. Instantly beloved.

For ME every time forsaken are on screen it’s always the same thing, the same attitude, the same shady goals that serve their dark mistress without question. It’sa rather stale thing after soooo many years of existence, you’d think after wrath they would have gotten some sort of change after their vengeance was achieved but no, they still continued on with no change really to their character or culture.

Also hey good thing they bring you joy.

Flush them down the toilet since 90% of their identity was wrapped up with Sylvanas.

They already lived in muck-filled sewers, and were perfectly happy to do so.

If sewers are good enough for the roach merchant, they’re good enough for me I say!

The Blood Knights were gutted, sure, but the difference in tone between pre and post-2.4 blood elf content is really not that drastic. They were prissy jerks then and they’re prissy jerks now, just with a slightly greater capacity for heroism. Lor’themar was also a non-character before Sarah Pine’s fanfiction hit canon so I’m not sure what your point is there.

I mean, the biggest change has already been made for you. The megalomaniac who defined the Forsaken faction and dictated every one of their less-than-pleasant policies is gone, and in her place you’ve got a moderate who actually cares about her “race”. Is she going to shrug her shoulders, sail back to Lordaeron, and continue blighting the Alliance for no other reason than hey, it’s what we do, and what are we if not slaves to the Blizzard bio that says we’re evil? Would that be good storytelling in your opinion?

Who isn’t?

Honestly, I think they should become a wing of the Shadowlands. Specifically, I think they should ally with Maldraxxus and Bastion. They’re two very different aspects of the afterlife, who embody very different ideals, but they’re ones that mirror the nature of Forsaken society very well. One of their biggest issues, especially post-Sylvanas, is their lack of reason to really be around now that we know what lies beyond.

But becoming a wing of death is a pretty easy way to give them a reason to stick around. The Maldraxxi have lost their House of Eyes, and both them and the Kyrian pretty clearly have concerns about necromancers in the physical realm, and an easy way to rectify both, at least on Azeroth, is to use the race with the closest connection to death.

For the Forsaken, it gives them a bit of a renewed purpose, IE using their stolen afterlife as an opportunity to keep it from happening to others, and can solve their population issue in a healthy way by acting as a wing of death for those who wish to continue acting in the physical realm. Would also be a nice way to integrate various Maldraxxus-based customization into the Forsaken without it feeling random and just for OOC value.

Plus, it gives the Horde a decent counterpart in power and in cosmology to the night elves and their druidism/wild god roots in Life.

Of course, I doubt Blizz would ally them with either, they don’t seem to be particularly concerned with any Forsaken story at the moment, but it’s nice to dream.

Forsaken only lost their capital city. With a Sylvanas redemption confirmed, she’ll just return to them after SL as if nothing happened, especially since Blizz ignores all the BfA plots

It’s not like they lost all their zones and were completely wiped out and erased from the game like the Night Elves, the only thing they don’t have anymore is Undercity, and they even reclaimed Tirisfal and you had quests there at the end of BfA.
I’m bringing this up because they’re far from being the biggest losers in WoW compared to some other races.

But for that, the Forsaken would have to die altogether, wouldn’t they? And to attract “living” for work … I do not think that in normally working Shadowlands, this will be appreciated.
And their afterlife doesn’t seem to have been stolen. After the second death, they re-pass the judgment of the Arbiter, and she again judges all their time of their “life”.

Given their track record the Forsaken are the last group on Azeroth that I would trust to properly regulate necromancy.

Not really, no. The whole point would be that they’d be operating as a helping hand in the physical plane, which the covenants would support because their complacency in areas like Azeroth (the Primus aside) is what led to the events of this expansion happening.

I was referring to their afterlife being stolen by being undead, IE stolen by Arthas. Their goal would be similar to Lilian’s in Cata/MoP, preventing dark forces like necromancers from taking root and robbing people of the afterlives they’re intended for.

I really wish you’d stop making crap up just to stoke your frantic victim complex. Even if Sylvanas doesn’t die in SLs (which is a pretty big IF, I don’t expect her to survive the expac at least), she wont be coming back to the Forsaken. She wont be returning to the Horde. Neither will Nate. UC is gone. ALL of the Forsaken territories are in Limbo. They have no developed characters. And despite being in such a miserable state and the Undead race of this game … unlike the NEs they have ZERO relevance in SLs.

And no, there was no quest to reclaim Tirisfal.

I did not make anything up.

There’s no if. Sylvanas, the forsaken leader, got this much love and her own expansion, and somehow I’m still hearing that Forsaken are getting ignored.

Keep telling yourself that.

How come? They literally had a quest there where they met with the undead night elves and dark rangers there later in BfA. Silverpine was never in question.

Except that the expansion is all about their leader.

Honestly I wouldn’t even have brought this up, but I felt like I had to in a post that claims the race to be the biggest losers over losing a capital city when the Night Elves exist (or existed).

Seems to understand. Do not allow people not to live after life, so that there is no sudden disappearance of the soul from the covenant?

Doesn’t Maldraxus do this on his own? At the very least, he is capable of sending agents.
The Forsaken would rather come up with this goal for themselves than get it from someone in the Shadowlands. And it is unlikely that they will provide portals to all corners of space to fight necromancy. They do not seem to regard necromorphism as a serious problem, but rather a minor, albeit painful, nuisance.

They did, but they kind of lost the entire section of their army dedicated to that, as well as the section dedicated to plagues and alchemy, something the Forsaken are also rather proficient at.

But I’m not saying the Forsaken become the new House of Eyes, just that they act as the representative for the covenants on Azeroth, given the planet’s clear importance in the cosmic scale. Even with the ability to send their limited amount of agents, having a standing protectorate on the planet seems much wiser.

If you want to shut up the nelf -
Don’t talk to him at all.
Keep on enduring attack
But don’t raise the chapter.
You will give in, and - oh horror! -
The theme is turned again
What is so unpleasant for you -
Place of crying for the nelfs. Yes.

Original

Even after Sylvanas is long gone she will still be their biggest hurdle.

I believe that Sylvanas will be one of the most difficult characters to replace because of her absolute significance to the forsaken and her history with the IP due to her “legacy character” status.
