What the hell to do with the Forsaken

Derek should be ashes and never have been retconed to be used again.

BfA pirates?

Amen to that. Calia needs to go out. Sylvanas needs to get in. Victory for the dark lady. Always.

You can have black forsaken models.

Ideally, yes, but currently do not exist

was mostly talking about the hair (ergo why I mentioned that the void preserved her curls as a funny yolo retcon)

I’d love the curly hair to be given to the Forsaken though

They have curly hair. Hell they have hair fitting black people. they have had it since vanilla.

It’s not hard to give her a unique model. There’s a black forsaken hearthstone card.

Sure it’s not hard, will blizz do it is the question

Black curls for Seline or for the forsaken? Regardless it depends on how loud fans ask for it.

You’ve introduced another great example of how the devs are inconsistent at their convenience.

I recall a line in a book about some human spies that were looking working for Thrall, giving him intel on Stormwind I think.

Easy.

Keep them the way they are, write about the Cult of Forgotten shadow and the Royal Apothecary Society. Write about the Deathstalkers. Write more about their lore.

That would require some kind of consensus as to what the Forsaken even are which we don’t have and never will.

Easy.

Ask the forsaken community. I am aware they aren’t as present in this forum, but they are there in Twitter, Reddit, Discords…

The devs know where to find 'em

This is the problem though. The “way they are” is over. The Deathstalkers and the RAS were cultivated by Sylvanas to serve her own ends, and barring some treason in Wrath, that is all they have ever existed for. What do they do now? What is their focus? Will Lilian or Calia or whoever their next leader is tolerate the same old blight and murder routine?

You have to ask these questions, now Sylvanas has been excised from the Forsaken narrative. Just doing what they’ve always done is not really the answer when the lady who decided what that was has abandoned them.

The Deathstalkers were created by Varimathras yet they remained.
Lilian or Calia are not really forsaken leaders, they are horde diplomats at best.

There is plenty of forsaken characters in leadership roles, why not just build them?

Lydon is his own entity.

We need an Apothecary banshee king.

I’m reminded of the time Blizzard wrote some unvetted text for the new Forsaken intro for the new player experience and they described them as “tireless defenders of the living” and everyone here, who are mostly the self-selected group of people who were not driven off by years of Sylvanas villain-batting, were defending it (with a few exceptions).

But the outrages over Twitter and other fansites was loud and clear to the point that its one of the few times I’ve seen the story devs step in directly to address an outrage.

People on the story forums are for the most part in an anti-Forsaken, anti-Sylvanas bubble.

Cuz they’re all boys except Aelthalyste and blizzard isn’t going to replace a Girl Leader with a Boy Leader

Oh it was vetted you bet it was vetted

But by whom remains the question (jk we both know who)

I did not see Anduin mentioned in your suggestion. So, not sure it’s a realistic request. (/s)

Perhaps, if the current team utterly fails on the financial front, and we get somebody instead, maybe those people will actually realise that the community is not a monster to run away from, but could be a source of valuable ideas (and, surprise, people being invested in the project, and seeing how their input helps to shape it, also more likely to financially support it).

The devs would have to get over “we know what’s best” approach. Which might not be realistic.

There are plenty of ways to continue their story, from actually sticking to what many people say, that the horde is “underdog”, so there is a justified reason to keep research on unconventional “tools”, to them being a risky way to handle whatever the next big bad could try to do.

But, that would require the dev team that instead of trying to replace what people like, actually would see value in keeping and evolving what people liked.

I would be in that camp too, but the devs did not manage to convince me. All the “only together we can” stories made “anti-whatever” story lines worthless, as there is no depth and commitment to it.

“Anti-Sylvanas” would work if they consistently would make her a villain or anti-hero, instead of treating the character as a tool and not the character.

So, yeah. At this point I do not even distinguish Sylvanas, night elf, Yrel, and many other problems, because the root of them is the same, and treatment is largely comparable (using as a plot device, selecting a few character traits, ignoring the rest when convenient, poor coherency, little depth in exploring individual story lines, however important they seem to be, etc.)
