Oh there is one place there that does that it’s small but yeah i got shot there to but whine up fighting for my life when rezz on the bottom.
Never seen it in mid air though could be a glitch.

It was the Zandari on the bottom they shoot you when you get close to that point I had to fly way around that point doing wq’s there. It small you can’t see them well on the ground too many trees there.

If you were on a low level alt within Tal’Gurub and had DoTs on you or were being fired at when you jumped then you can just…become a corpse before you hit the ground.
I’ve been killed this way more than a few times in Alliance areas.

Let me explain.
So I was in tal’gurub and got a loot chest. When I go out of the room, I aggro the world and run. I jumped down onto the area where the rare enemy was, and when I get 5 yards over the air, one of the enemies kill me. My dead body falls to the ground.
