What the Heck Happened to Torghast and whose to blame

I find it interesting how this dude is using the same gear, race and class that another troll that used to do the same thing, makes me think it is his alt but he was this stupid.

I screenshotted both posts, for posterity’s sake - not the kind of thing you ever want to let disappear from view.

The end boss’ hp TRIPLED from last week on my resto sham (same layer, was layer 6). While I agree that running it as a healer was a pinch too easy, it was “fixed” to make me run like L3 or 4, and be done for the week. I hex, I wind shear, I totem appropriately (roots, slow, stun, etc), and it still felt like I was in a place tuned for a full group.

“It’s solo or group content!” is now “It’s group content unless you don’t mind not maxing out one of the many system currencies we’ve rolled out”. Which, well, I can afford my R3 legendary and that should last for a while. Skipping Torghast and The Maw entirely except to further the main storyline on my main, and to get my main-alt’s legendary when ever she hits max level.

I’m actually really concerned that the devs don’t seem to care about the reputation they’ve given themselves, the fun detected memes and the pendulum metaphors and the consistently expressed views that they’re way out of touch with the playerbase. I know at least two other entire classes are very disgruntled with Torghast.

Was it the way I described the buff? I know End bosses have it. Never seen it on floor bosses. But if that’s the buff I described, then yeah, its frankly a stupid design. Because its effectively an Enrage timer, and a very short one at that.

This is not true, most players have been able to complete Layer 7 and 8 with ease this week. There is also a gear check involved, having a strong item level is important to going up in the Torghast ladder! This system rewards effort, and I think this is a great thing

Let me see your source.

Having some funny, hypocritical posts for posterity is always a plus, especially if you’re having a bad day and need a laugh.
However, I won’t lie, I was simping pretty hard for Torghast last week but this nerf really made me salty. I’ll just have to run it with my homies now. :relieved:

Yeah, it was exactly how you described it. Floor 2 of the run. Didn’t even have a chance to get good anima powers. I could get it down to half health before it started one shoting me.

Talking about the pendulum issue. When they announced “all gear will be wanted and vital” I was concerned they’d go too far AWAY from BfA. Where they gave out too MUCH gear. Now I’m seeing the exact opposite. Too LITTLE gear.

And its even worse if you’re a spec that drastically needs certain STATS and gear is HARD to come by. My Frost DK needs a good amount of Haste, and when I’m getting everything BUT Haste, those “upgrades” don’t feel like I’m getting stronger.

EDIT: As an example. I was using an ilvl 155 two hander, no Haste on it. I was getting MAULED. I bought a pair of green 131 one handers, both with Haste. My raw weapon damage dropped like 5 points. And mobs were dying faster. Because of that Haste.

I completed layer 8 last night. It was no cake walk. I had to adjust how i approach certain aspects of the instance but it was perfectly doable at ilvl193. I completed it as elemental with a resto leggo

THIS! With enough skill and item level, these layers can be done. The challenge is there, and it’s very rewarding for folks. Congratulations on your run!

From what I can tell, the difference in getting enough soul ash to craft a max rank legendary (only counting soul ash from Torghast) by doing floor 5 vs floor 8 is 1 week.

6 weeks to fully level if you only do floor 5.

5 weeks to fully level if you do floor 8.

So not a big deal to not push if you don’t want.

Alot people will say but you have a earth elemental to tank mobs. To be entirely honest, pebbles, was helpful but it certainly didnt make it easy.

I have also done the runs on my druid. 187ilvl resto leggo boomkin spec and again wasnt easy but perfectly doable

Thank you. It certainly isn’t intuitive.

What happened? They have their spreadsheet showing how much progress players should be making weekly through Torghast and well, the players were a few weeks ahead. So they hit it with the slow down bat.

The first 8 floors should be doable by everyone because it’s required content. There’s achieve floors after that should be for the people that want a challenge.

As a side note I think there’s a huge imbalance between classes in torghast, still. As a feral Druid, I have yet to find something I couldn’t deal with. I have powers that turn regrow the into lay on hands with no cool down and others that makes convoke one shot floor bosses. Some classes don’t have anything near as strong.

This is not true. Torghast is completely optional, if you needed a legendary then it means you’re planning on playing end game content and that content requires a gear check the same way Torghast does. If players don’t have the skill or gear for the challenges of 7 - 8, the first 4 layers are very easy to do and offer the bulk of the dust. No one is forced to do anything, there’s options for both casuals and hardcore players.

No, it isn’t optional content. If you think it is, you’re mistaken.

chambers 7 made me work for it, but upper reaches 8 utterly destroyed me, like a dozen times I restarted trying to scrounge up a descent power but the 50% health increase buff in there makes the first layer guardian nearly (or absolutely, depending on which one spawned) impossible for me as a prot warrior.

The health buff is BS cause it lets that derpy damage and stun immunity buff ramp up more casually.

Way to cherry pick that one sentence, tell me what’s wrong with anything else I said:
