I understand why certain race/class combos aren’t a thing on a generalized cultural level for most part. It makes sense. The Draenei had most of their race corrupted by Fel, so they won’t like Warlocks as a culture. Tauren are generally noble/honorable/whatever (and also large and hoofed, suited to more brute force combat styles), so won’t have much of an affinity with Rogues. Blood Elves are very superficial to the point of altering the environment with magic to fit their desires, they don’t make good Druids as a whole.
But we’re not exactly Generic [Race] Citizen #30721. We’re the “Champion”. Not to mention we barely spend any time sticking to our own racial camps / cities unless you’re Human/Orc, because it’s the faction hub. We’re individuals, and I don’t see anything in lore that says a Human can’t learn to be, say, a Druid. Or a Draenei can’t learn to be a Warlock. Or a Tauren can’t learn to be a Rogue. In fact, we have examples of many “locked” combinations in the form of individual NPCs.
So why can’t we do that?
They could even make it a bit more flavorful. Have Tauren NPCs sneer at you and begrudgingly take your coin for their services if you’re a Rogue (maybe RNG chance for differing dialogue or something). Have Draenei Warlocks start with ‘Disliked’ rep with their own faction (questgivers and other essential NPCs would remain neutral for gameplay reasons). That sort of thing. Play into it, instead of arbitrarily locking it.
Basically, I don’t buy into the idea that each race is its own hivemind. It’s fine to have norms for storytelling purposes, but as individuals we should be able to break from those norms. The story itself would not change because of this. Draenei would still dislike Warlocks / Fel Magic.
All classes for all races - We don’t need the game to be further oversaturated with the most popular races. People also already complain about some existing combinations, let’s not make it worse by giving warlocks to night elves, draenei, Lightforged, and Mag’har.
Bards - Unless the next expansion lets you play with a guitar controller, this isn’t happening.
Faction merge/Third faction - The devs clearly don’t see anything wrong with the current bipartisan faction system, and even if they wanted to change it, it would be too mechanically intensive to bother.
Player housing - The game has gotten by fine without this particular feature for 16+ years.
High elves - The devs specifically went out of their way to introduce void elves in order to not make this race playable, but a vocal minority won’t accept that it’s not WCII anymore or that high elves aren’t as important to the Alliance as they think they are.
Neutral blood elves - Similar to high elf requests, but somehow even more delusional. They aren’t reworking an entire race, capital and all, to become available to both factions because Alliance players can’t accept having just one version.
Alliance sethrak - They live on Zandalar and the Alliance had minimal interaction with them compared to the Horde. Your ecelebs telling you they had a chance of joining the Alliance during BfA clickbaited you. I would give the people who want Horde sethrak a pass, but I’m pretty sure the Alliance sethrak crowd scared them into silence.
Alliance/neutral vulpera - The Alliance was never friendly to the ones in Vol’dun or the ones in Tiragarde Sound, they have no claim to either.
Alliance versions of other Horde races - No, the Alliance does not have a claim to Light orcs, Light undead, Light tauren, taunka, blood trolls, or Steamwheedle goblins, either.
Tuskarr/Tortollans/Ankoan - Of all the NPC races you can have promoted to playable, you pick these…
Human druids/shaman - They already have paladins, let’s let worgen and Kul Tirans have something unique.
Stormwind human/thin human models for Kul Tirans - No race is getting an entirely different model with its own rig as a cosmetic option unless it’s something like the worgen human form.
Worgen tails - The only place they have tails is in your RP profile. I don’t care about the somehow several-thousand-page back and forth over this particular thing.
Void elf blonde hair - They already got a fair amount of the new blood elf customization, they don’t need more.
Void elf paladins - They also shouldn’t have a class that should be physically impossible for them to be. No, Blizzard won’t reskin the entire class with Void effects just for them.
Blood elf/void elf/nightborne druids/shaman - They aren’t night elves or orcs. The vast majority of them wouldn’t turn to nature or the elements outside of some Moon Guard RPer’s backstory, and blood elves have enough classes already.
Mechagnome druids - They’re a race whose bodies are 40-50% mechanical and they live in a high-tech utopia beneath an irradiated junkyard. They’re easily the last race to turn to druidism, but people insist on them having druids because of Beast Wars jokes. Keep in mind I’m in the minority of people who genuinely like this race.
Ranged Survival - They went through the whole ordeal of reworking the spec into melee during Legion, it’s too late to go back without breaking Legion content and upsetting the people who enjoy its current iteration. You have two other ranged specs, pick one and leave Survival alone.
Deleting LFR - Would solve nothing, just inconvenience people who currently do LFR to experience the story and get gear, legendaries, and other rewards.
Covenant Class Abilities as talents - If they were going to do this, they would’ve done it.
Ending borrowed power - Then what?
Class skins - Won’t be a thing, contrary to whatever MMO-Champion told you.
"More LGBT+ representation!" - Self-explanatory.
Return of Mage Tower - The rewards were explicitly stated to be limited-time and the challenges were designed around the Legion iterations of each spec, so it’s unlikely for either the challenges or the rewards to ever come back. Might as well ask for the return of Challenge Mode rewards, while you’re at it.
“Make Anduin gay so my fanfictions of him with Wrathion will finally be reality in-game” Or any other thinly veiled version of it. >_> Because God forbid we have a straight male character who isn’t a hyper-masculine warmongering stereotype.
They don’t care about his chronological age or the fact that he’s responsible (albeit indirectly) for Varian’s death, all they care is that Blizzard gave him an attractive human model >_>;
People arguing stuff because of lore. When Blizzard have shown time and time again lore matters until design need it not to. Then it’s instantly abandoned.
They wasted a bunch of time and effort reworking the spec to cater to people other than Hunters only for those people to stick to the wealth of well-established melee specs in the game leaving SV with hardly anyone. It was a stupid decision that cemented Survival as the circus freak of class design. It should absolutely be reverted. The 12 people who enjoy melee Survival can just get lost on one of the other billion melee specs in this game. We had hardly any ranged weapon users to begin with before they removed one. Harsh, but “live and let live” died when Blizzard stole the spec away from ranged SV players. If they didn’t want people to discuss removing specs like that they shouldn’t have set the precedent for it in the first place.
Actually, the reasoning for the new MMO or WoW2 is so they can update their 15 year old spaghetti code. Some of the things they want to do they cannot simply because there’s so many lines of coding already in this game that it would take too long to find it. Better off just literally making an entirely new WoW, not an expansion but an entirely new built game with new code they could correct things. Some bug fixes are still in this game from back in BC and Wrath
As to the OP, requested ideas I hated have been;
Cross faction raids/dungeons as well.
More races to play. Don’t need 450 races in the game, just an absurdity to me.
They can’t revert it without affecting legacy content that’s still fully playable and screwing over people who worked for the Survival artifact’s appearances, as I already pointed out, but continue to live in the fantasy world where they can and will if people moan loudly enough.
Ah, yes, I totally forgot that I can fulfill the fantasy and playstyle of being a spear-wielding survivalist with a tamed bear as Arms, Outlaw, and Havoc.
Whining about No Upgrades when they refuse to step up their game to the next harder content. Like the ilevel 226 AoTC and KSM players complaining of not getting upgrades and they refuse to do Mythic Raiding where his upgrades are located.
Whining about bad loots on Weekly Vault when they are the one that controls the vault’s loot. Why not run more to have more options? Why not step up to the next harder content to get better ilevel vault loot? Like the DK who said he left the game becoz of bad loot on Vault when he keeps doing a M+2. He is the one ruining his Vault. LOL.
Whining about Maw becoz of inconvenience. Maw depicts Hell. Is hell suppose to be convenient?
Whining about the game’s endless grind. MMO is a game of Grind. And WoW is an MMO. WoW is a game of grind since Vanilla. People thought this game can be completed in 2 to 3 weeks then they’re done. They are on a wrong game.
