blizzard has said in an ideal season with the right inflation the average player will be 1800.

Feels weird that the starting mmr is 1700 and 1911 is rank 200 for pres evokers in shuffle, I wonder if there’s still a cap or if it’s more because no one queues
I would consider myself the benchmark of average to slightly above average player.
Early seasons with high deflation or lack of inflation im about 1500-1600. mid season i start getting 1800.
i have not done any late season pushing with higher mmr inflation in a while, but i imagine id probably end around 1900. generally i just start using the high inflation to get elite sets unlocked.
i dont inspect random people often, but when i do… 1200 seems to be about the average

Hard to say what average is. If I had to take a guess, even with inflation, 1600 is average. What upsets me is how hard people are on themselves when it comes to rating.

The mean rating should be around 1700 now.
Yes just the starting rating. But average means where most people are. And I think most people fall between 1400-1700. So I went with 1600.

These people are attempting to plot out the distribution of people’s rating. The major drawback is that at least one person in the shuffle lobby has to be using their addon for them to be able to count the match. I think it would be neat if blizzard would publish this type of info themselves and not just the top whatever on the leaderboard. A lot of people would be interested to see the concentrations of players at varying ratings throughout the ladder i think.
By their estimations, about 30% of people have rival and about 5% of people have duelist rn. My guess is that their estimation has to skew high given that the addon has to be installed by someone in the lobby and there is probably correlation between number of players with the arena logs addon and higher rating.

I wonder what the rating distribution looks like for RSS. Preferably separating DPS from healers.
There was a post on the subreddit using WoW Arena Logs to form a distribution chart. Their data is going to skew towards higher ratings because that’s likely the skew of the people who would download the log in the first place, which is exacerbated by them cutting off everyone below 1k that nonetheless did get logged, but they have ~1700 as the median, 1800 as the ~70th percentile, 2100 as the ~94th percentile, and 2400 as the ~99th percentile.
