My brother is leveling an alt - he’s level 73. I’m 80, I was going to tank some normal dungeons for him to help him level.
We pugged some people for Azjol Nerub, (all lvl 72-76) and when we zone in, they get basically no XP. What level do they need to be before I can actually play with them without killing their xp?
I might be mistaken, but you SHOULD be able to get exp with him as he is now. I think the level gap is 7 levels, or if the mobs are grey to you. However I think that level 72 in group is what messed it up, at that point, you’re 8 levels above him.
If the mobs are gray to any character in the party that has entered combat with them, everyone in the party gains significantly reduced kill experience.
Really wish there was some information in game about this, because it’s incredibly easy to trigger this problem.
It’s simple, as stated above. If they’re gray to someone, no one will get xp
Pretty sure you can dungeon with him atm, with maybe a small penalty… but being 80 you could blast through that content.
It’s a much bigger penalty than you might expect - somewhere around 95% experience reduction. It’s a big enough penalty that even if the higher level is able to one shot elites you’re still probably gaining experience slower than having a full group in the appropriate level range that takes 5-10 seconds to kill each enemy.

It says it on the summoning stone what level you can do the dungeon if you aren’t using the LFG which also says it. If you are over the level you will nerf the exp for everyone else
