I took that stupid quiz and I got Priest, for ISFJ.
-My least favorite class
-My least played class
-I. Don’t. Heal.
-If it wasn’t for class mounts and T8 priest set, I would likely never have leveled a priest to begin with
So I dunno…weird

Nothing, the MBTI has poor validity as a personality instrument.
As an actual psychologist… that whole thing makes me facepalm.
There’s no scientific evidence for Myers-Briggs. It’s not a real personality test. In fact, if you took the test back to back, you could even get different results the second time around.
Stop spreading this as psychology; all it is is a ‘fun little casual quiz’ for entertainment.
INFJ-T Advocate. The blurb about it says it’s rare. I’m not sure what it means in terms of WoW classes, but it would seem I should skew more towards playing protector/healer type classes, which is inaccurate in terms of number of classes I play, but somewhat accurate in that playing a healer is something that I’m naturally good at.
INTJ-A, night elf, resto druid and fire mage.
INFP-T I main a Blood Elf Beast Mastery Hunter, and Shadow Priest.
Idk but it’s fun though xD
Myers Briggs is a personality test it’s free
The MBTI as a place to start a discussion is fine. One just has to remember it reflects the persona that took the test, that is, work self, home self, gamer self and so on.
In this regard it probably does less harm than the DSM-5 which rather than being a showcase for the scientific method is a collection of current fashions in jargon and a healthy dose of self-serving diagnoses and treatment from our friendly pharmaceutical industry.
Human beings trying to understand human beings will always have blind spots be they biological, cultural, age or experiential biases.
Oh, of course I feel this way, I’m an INFP, Water Dragon and a Cancer.
As a general rule, I find myself fitting in the INTP archetype most of the time.
An often misunderstood typology, tends to work out better if you focus on the cognitive functions and do some more in-depth analysis rather than a basic test/quiz; those tend to be very inaccurate a lot of the time. Nevertheless, the typing has very little bearing on what people do from what I’ve seen. People will pick different roles, race and classes regardless of where they fall on it.
However, there could be a common thread between those of the same type liking a particular role… but even then, you’re looking to come up with at least 48 different explanations (3 roles for each of the 16 types). Applying race/class combinations starts to get a bit ridiculous.
The typing mostly reveals quirks and common failings, and most of the time in only the broadest sense.
To use INTP as an example…
… but if you go through all that, it’s all VERY general stuff which offers no firm connections to… well, anything. It’s just trends and quirks. And generally being weird.
ENFJ , very fitting considering I’m becoming a teacher. As for my class I have only played a warrior seriously.
It’s been 7+ years since I took one of those tests, but back then I pretty consistently got ISFP. Primary class+spec has been fire mage since forever, with other major played class-spec combos being arms/prot warrior, disc/shadow priest, marksman hunter, and elemental shaman.
tell me something that isn’t. COVID-19 is also ‘current jargon.’
So, are you arguing we just shouldn’t try and just live in ignorance?
Myers Briggs is a fraudulent self-fulfilling prophecy. You’d have better luck and a more honest result asking a ouija board for your Patronus based horoscope.
Pretty sure most of us aren’t taking Myers Briggs too seriously. It’s all in good fun!
Did you have a long day, Huggy??
hands you a snickers and juice box with bendy straw
Better?
No, but I’m also acknowledging that we have intellectual blind spots, cultural biases, biological constraints such as aging and gender that will always make studying humans a Quixotic endeavor. We should never stop trying but we should also be a bit humble about our certainties as people tend to be most wrong about the things we’re most convinced of as in the sad examples of Linus Pauling and William Shockley.
exactly; that’s the whole point of science. Assume everything is wrong unless it’s hard to disprove its certainty.
It’s too easy to disprove Myers-Briggs; therefore, wrong. It’s pretty difficult to disprove the patterns in the DSM-5; therefore, right (as of now).
Really, those are non-comparable. IDK why you’d think otherwise.
Indeed, science and honest introspection are continuously self correcting.
For the record, I’m not being an apologist for the MBTI as even if one buys into the underlying theory, the instrument itself is much too fragile in terms of the user’s state of mind, the context of when and where one fills out the survey and so forth. This is true of any self report instrument.
That said, as this thread is proving, the MBTI can be an excellent way to start a conversation that is generally positive.
