I’ve got some items that are just no longer available. I kept them because they have memories behind them, and not just because they are rare.
They among them are: Light of Elune. Blade of Reckoning (Onyxia questline). Archeus (Mor’ladim quest). Hook of the Master Angler (still available, but I won the very first STV fishing competition and chose it), Drakefire Amulet (Onyxia key, no longer needed), Seal of Ascension (UBRS key, no longer needed), and Jin’rohk (thankfully still proper side up and not embarrassingly flipped upside down like Zin’rokh was.
I’ve got other items, like parts of the Undead Slaying gear (unfortunately, I didn’t save all the pieces on characters that had the full sets), Argent Dawn and Tabard of the Protector, classic Blacksmithing items (Glimmering Mithril Insignia for example), Dartol’s Rod of Transformation, Argent Avenger, and so on. I also have some rare mounts (if you care, you can just check what I have in my armory, lol).
The rarest thing I have in game is probably the “Find Minerals” spell that is still on my hotbars, lol. I put it there back in classic and never removed it, even after they moved tracking to the minimap area. I still remember having to click that every time I died, because tracking would get removed on death. There’s probably a way to add it to the bars now, considering it’s still there for me and is completely usable, but I’m guessing not many characters actually have it on their bars. It’s not really an item, and the ability itself isn’t rare by any means, but I thought I’d mention it for fun.
(I know this is a few months late to reply to, but…)
It’s not all that surprising, considering the numerous factors in play: First of all, it was an Alliance thing only at the time, meaning that the novelty of having a Horde character on a ram was not there yet. It required you gathering 600 Brewfest Tickets, which was quite a grind. The mount itself is basic looking, not much different at all from the other basic rams you could buy. It took a bag slot, and could only be used on the character it was earned on, since the mount tab and shared mounts weren’t available yet. And it was a 60% speed mount. Most people who have it went for the epic mount and were able to get the basic one as a bonus later on. Finally, the quest was only available the first year.
All of those factors together make it rare. I never bothered at the time because I didn’t need a ram taking up inventory space, regardless of if it was the epic one or not.
