What is the point of loot specialization if

I randomly get conduits- most of which dont apply to my spec.
the great vault generates a random piece of gear- today it gave me a tank weapon.

I dont tank.

What is the point of loot specialization unless everything is on the same page?

what makes it a tank weapon?

The vault generates loot based on your current loot spec so when you go to open it, it does say on the cast bar that is is generating loot based on X spec.

Depending on the item you got, you may want to check WoWhead to see if the item can drop for tank specs and your current loot spec. There are some items that seem to be only for certain specs, but can work for other specs for that class.

Gee.

It’s like Blizzard doesn’t know how to handle its RNG Las Vegas storm.

If Blizzard can’t FORCE the game to give you relevant loot spec gear, then it’s not a you issue.

It’s a Blizzard issue.

i guess its not specifically tank weapon but it is an off hand and I use a staff. Cant use both.

What is the weapon you got?

im not sure. when I saw what it was I opted for the coins instead.

Chances are, it is not a Blizzard issue and either the item in question can be used on multiple specs. Like, for example. Fury Warriors can obtain 1 hand weapons when though the meta for Fury Warriors are to try and get 2 handed weapons. The reason for this is because Fury Spec has 2 passives that allow them to dual wield 1 hands and get a benefit for that or dual wield 2 handed weapons and get a benefit from that.

i’m not a wow expert… ive been playing a few months. All I know is, every time I tried to equip an off hand it would put my 2hander in my bag. I dont have a high ilvl 1 hander to justify getting rid of my 2hander.

That is working correctly. If you have a 2 handed staff. you can’t equip an off-hand. Imagine trying to hold a big stick or pole with both hands and trying to hold some hanging thing with one of your hands. Would kind of look goofy. >.<

You can only hold an off-hand if you are using a one-handed weapon on the other.

yeah so to me thats not really working, i cant use it. I understand its RNG and SOMEONE might be able to use it. But its a waste of a great vault week, and waste of a ilvl 239 item.

Hmm maybe, but it really depends. You may get lucky with a one hander from a Mythic + run that you can upgrade with Valor till you get a good one from your vault to use.

It really depends on what spec and build you are going for.

how would the game know that you prefer a staff to a mh/oh?

i dont do mythics. so I rely on raids and the vault for gear

That is the problem. The game doesn’t know because you choose if you want to use 2hand weapons or an 1 hand and off-hand. Most of the time, the stats are about the same either way.

idk maybe it can look at data and say gee most druids are using a 2hander…

Maybe you will get lucky next week then . shrugs

what if all that proves is that it’s easier to gear that way?

Most of the conduits for your class come from specific places. So when it’s not your spec the choice is, nothing or conduit not for your spec.

well again, per what I have already said in an earlier response, I am not a wow expert. I’ve literally been playing a druid for less than 5 months. I’ve had a 2hander the whole time. I had a 2hander while leveling. So maybe keeping things the same after you hit cap would be cool.
