Yeah, it does. Another possibility is the shard is leftover from an old and long forgotten war for Azeroth between the Light and Void.
And the Void sent out the old gods to corrupt Azeroth as a response to the shard, because they wanted it before the Light go to it and the sheer amount of void corruption during the Black Empire is what caused the shard to go silent before waking up again. And explains why it’s going into a void phase at the moment
I did some research and turns out that originally the lore was that the people of Hallowfall had been fighting Nerubians for centuries, but the “centuries” part was quietly retconned out.
I hear you. Hallowfall’s description on the official site for The War Within initially stated that the Arathi have been battling the nerubians for centuries. On November 17, 2023, the description was slightly changed to remove any mention of how long they’ve been battling the nerubians.
Let’s hope The War Within lives up to the concepts. This time, there’s no “break glass in case of emergency” button like in WoD (time-travel to see currently dead old favorite characters again), the mountain of fanservice in Legion (all the artifact weapons, the Emerald Dream, top billing for Illidan…) or Shadowlands (top billing for Sylvanas, featuring beloved characters who are dead because it takes place in the afterlife) to hide bad writing as they’ve already used all of the above (mostly worked for Legion, not so much for Shadowlands).
