I have heard several devs say there are no plans to make it skippable.
but I never hear an explanation for why its vital to go through it.
I hear reasons I shouldnt “care” - it gives you fairly quick xp and first level is the most common one.
but so what. IS that really the reason we cant skip it? Why is that so important and vital?

I feel their explanation would be for some people, that is the content, the journey. By making it skippable it sort of robs people of that path. You would then counter well why not give the option for people who want to skip it? And I’m not sure but believe it would have something to do with how it’s coded to get you to oribos to choose your path.
All speculation, haven’t seen anything concrete as far as I’m aware.

Because suffering is mandatory.

It’s still the first patch (.5 is a meme).
Jaina’s VA was expensive so we’re getting as much mileage as we can out of her unskippable 15 minute dialogue.

When did they add the broken shore scenario skip? I feel like that was mandatory for a long time, too.

Yeah I was going to say they have to make us have some suffering in the Maw, and making us have to wait for Jaina’s cave monologue to be over and for Thrall to go weapon shopping is all they have.

Somehow, I’m level 52. Apparently you can get XP by archaeology which I do for hours as part of my preferred ERP. The XP is little but I’m curious if I can make it to level 60 this way.
according to wowhead, patch 7.0.3. so not very long at all.
please give us a skip.

The way that I play is I do all quests in everyone zone while also herbing and mining as I come across them, I’ve leveled 9 60s and I always ding 60 in Ardenweald. If they add a skip I might actually make it to Revendreth while questing lol.
Alright team figures are in for this quarter. Have we broke even on Laura Bailey yet? No? Back to the maw for another 6-12.

it is a conscious decision from the dev to grab a bit of /timeplayed because their stats show almost nobody skipping an entire alt experience solely because they had to repeat the intro
make no mistake, they clearly fully understand that it has become tedious for many players to repeat but they don’t care because they design for metrics and tolerance levels pursuing carrots over ‘fun’
as Ion stated in his out of touch interview “What is fun?”

I would at least understand if it was a coding reason. I might roll my eyes at their incompetence but at least it would make sense. It is logical to decide not to put time/effort/money into a maw skip when in reality its not something affecting a huge number of people.
but then the question is - if thats the reason, what in the world is causing them to … not just say thats the reason. Close the book on it. We can’t do it and arent going to do it.
this p-footing around they are doing is tiresome and makes them seem more incompetent.
The MAW is the best zone in the game I don’t get why people hate it. I think they should expand the concept and make some more dangerous zones like it.
I never personally disliked the maw the way some did.
but the maw intro isnt dangerous or difficult by any measure.

It should be skippable on alts. We did it. We know the story.

Honestly when I get an alt to 50 I lose interest knowing I have drudge through that annoying place. Also at max level I avoid it as much as possible, why make a zone that actively discourages you from doing a lot of stuff there. Feels like another form of time-gating but in a far worse way.
