What is so good about FF?

FF XIV feels like a complete game at the beginning of the expansion. WOW feels like early access or beta til the X.3 patch.

This guy had the Age of Reckoning logo.

Fortunately I doubt he’ll ever have to explain it to his grandchildren.

FFXIV has a lot of things going for it but realistically it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re looking for a fast paced or pvp driven experience, XIV 100% will not suit you.

FFXIV is first and foremost a Final Fantasy RPG and an MMO second. The story is a huge part of the game and if you don’t care about that sort of thing then you probably won’t find much to draw you in for the long haul.

Some of the things I personally think XIV does better are cosmetics. Armors vary widely with new models being added all the time the have unique silhouettes. WoW armors are all basically the same shape with new patterns painted on.

I’d love to see more diverse armor models in this game. New styles like long coats, shorter knee length hems on robes, casual fantasy fashion as cosmetic items that are transmoggable.

That’s one thing that FF does better than WoW but it really is a your mileage may vary type of situation. The best thing I can say is FF is free up to level 60. Give it a shot and see for yourself.

If you like it great, if not, that’s okay too! It’s just video games guys. It’s not that deep. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you’re looking for even a decent pvp system and that’s all you care about, please stay on wow. PvP in FFXIV is hot garbage at best currently.

As a caveat to this. FFXIVs appearance collection system is kind of bad. You can only store 400 item appearances total in your collection inventory, which can only be accessed at an inn in one of the major cities. The armor in FFXIV looks amazing, but currently you can’t collect anywhere near as much as I would like at a time.

Very true, on both counts. Pvp in XIV is garbage for sure.

As for the glamour dresser, I personally find that if I shuffle out pieces into the armoire and keep a dedicated retainer for glamours, I do okay on space. But I do agree that more space is sorely needed.

If you look for the preferred realm (should have a little orange icon next to its name or check FFXIV site) there is a huge exp boost for creating a character on that one until level 70 (for all of your jobs) for at least 90 days.

If money is no object, the digital collectors edition of shadowlands also gives a very nice earring which boosts exp gains by 30% under level 80 for all of your jobs, indefinitely as long as you wear it.

Just go see your friendly moogle in town (mailbox):+1:

Nah. I don’t care how people define ‘weeb’ nowadays, don’t care if people keep using it wrong. It was supposed to mean someone who obsesses over japanese culture, to the point of putting it on a pedestal. As per usual the internet have ruined what ‘weeb’ means.

It still has a clear, derogatory meaning and it is the typical arrogance of a western moron, as I said. You calling it weeb crap, already shows a lot. It comes from Japan and is thus a foreign product and you call it weeb crap, not just weeb simulator, but weeb crap.

I doubt you would feel the same if it was made in NA.

See, the thing is that this would make more sense if it were, y’know, actually something produced or completely inhabited and infested by people who are actually “weebs” as per the actual term.

As it stands, “weebs” has just become yet another excuse for a rallying cry against unfamiliar games that lean more towards an animated/anime styled look. It’s a game literally created in a series of games of similar tone/art style, in Japan, by Japanese people working for a Japanese corporation.

Nobody has to convince you of anything, but if you don’t like it and can’t actually articulate why you don’t like a game, but decide you dislike a game before ever getting anywhere close to an informed opinion, that’s on you.

And we can hardly talk about animated/anime styled looks.
It is like trying to say that recent Disney 3d movies are anime, because the characters uses big eyes in their characters, which is common in anime to reflect emotions.

Animation from Japan also have a very, very varied amount styles much like cartoons in the west.

Anime is literally just the word for ‘cartoon’ in Japan. Even disney is called ‘anime’ in Japan.

It is just western arrogance and ignorance that leads to this kind of bull.

People should remember.

Cowboy bebop is a Japanese production.
Dragon Ball is a Japanese production.
JoJos bizzare Adventure is a Japanese production.

It is silly, really, that people would be so incredibly arrogant, and willingly remain so incredibly ignorant too.

In FF14 your character is central to the story.

In WoW your character doesn’t matter.

People keep saying wow is better or FF is better but in my humble opinion they are both great games in their own way. I personally suggest playing both FFXIV and Wow and deciding which one you prefer.

Must be you, I have around 5-10mins Max queues as DPS for any content in FFXIV

I think I’ll give FF14 another try.

I like how they communicate with their players and make their players feel important.

Also, I like how you don’t even have to ask for a blonde hair color in FF14.
They already knew you would want it, so they just included into the game for you. No timegating. No rep grinding.

Basically the dev team’s nice instead of condescending, that’s about it. There’s less to do (no mythic+ equivolent, pvp’s a joke, limits on transmogs so no point collecting them) and it takes waaaay longer than classic to get up to doing it.

The limits on their version of transmog are the same as they are in wow, practically. The main difference there is FFXIV cosmetics are much better. Arguably I suppose.

The major weakness of ff14 is the early game. It’s not slow at end game.

It’s has nothing to do with covenants … it has to do with the how the rotations are in WoW PvP. FF14 is an inferior game . Sorry FF shill.

Myth+ and PvP sucks anyway.

The former being nothing but a time-stressing task that you have to do each week to receive chest rewards, the latter just filling the game with vast amounts of toxicity.

RP is Warcraft’s last saving grace, and even that is slowly eroding.

I think the purpose for the surge of FF14 posts are more for trying to coax Blizz into making some changes for WoW that are desired. Like for instance Valor points. Currently, it only has use for upgrading Mythic+ gear last I checked. FF14 uses tomestomes that behave like the Cata VP that allowed us to buy Normal Raid equivalent gear. The 4 man Expert Roulettes (equivalent to 5 man Heroics) feel they have more purpose to get these tomestones to buy the gear.

The players are much nicer. I was new doing the waycrest manor version dungeon in ff 14. I didnt know how to get to the last boss as it requires your hearth button basically. The group told me how, if it was wow they would just pull without me and not say anything!
