I’m the one posting on a level 80 classic character…
Ok then you should know better.
People say this, but I’ve never had anyone ask me my GS. I’ve listed my warlock as interested in doing the heroic+ daily and have gotten an invite before I even finished my toc dailies.
You should just quit then literally impossible to catch up now.
Is that what you wanted to hear?
You just do it. The game only makes sure you are level 80. I bet you can take 5 fresh 80s and clear some of it. It might be a bit rough, there might be some trial and error. Heroic+ is tuned for fresh 80s. Obviously it only takes like 15-20minutes on geared characters, probably 35-50minutes on fresh characters.
A group comprised of strangers will probably want people geared to get closer to the 20 minute run. But nothing is stopping a fresh group from attempting it.
With the Heroic, Heroic+, and soon to be Heroic++, you can get your character ready for TOC without ever stepping foot into a raid. You might not be able to go directly from fresh 80 to heroic++, but a group of fresh 80s can certainly clear heroic+. Then take those upgrades and move on to a heroic++.
In wrath retail, a group of fresh 80s was never going to be able to complete ToC10 without getting some help from the previous raid tiers to step up.
I will give you step by step instructions because you seem incredibly slow-minded.
Form or join a group for heroic+.
Once group is full set dungeon to heroic.
Once you all zone in click the beacon with your whole group to turn it into a heroic+.
You and your group can now clear the whole dungeon and get loot and badges.
???
Profit.
I think his complaint boils down to, a full fresh group of 80s cant easily clear heroic++ in 20 minutes, therefore, heroic++ isn’t a catch up mechanic, because its not the first step a group of fresh 80s would make. They CAN make that decision if they want, but they might fail, so its not valid.
Wow. Really? A fresh 80 prot warrior is going to be brought to a H+ without having 540 defense? Hit and Expertise capped so others dont pull threat?
Just go straight into H+ when you hit 80?
I think it’s more of a “Instructions unclear, formed full group wiped for 5 hours on trash”.
Skill issue.
A tank only needs 535 defense to be crit capped for a heroic. However, the melee damage swings of the monsters is pretty low, so even crit damage isn’t deadly. You can also push crits off the table by getting crush capped (even though you cannot be crushed) at 101.6% total avoidance.
Defense of 540 (or equivalent) is required in raiding, because a boss melee swing being a crit is deadly.
Clearly a skill issue.
How is that a skill issue? You have to have certain breakpoints in gear to not get crit, to not miss, and to have less of a chance to be dodge blocked and parried so that means getting gear to be able to do the content.
I find it quite hilarious that the question cant be answered without saying “you need to do other content to get the gear to do this content that im telling you to do” because it totally destroys the argument that its a catch up system.
Before Heroic+ for a fresh set of ten 80s:
Run heroics for baseline gear, run naxx10 weekly.
After two weeks or so, move to Ulduar 10 weekly.
After two to four weeks, move on to Toc 10 weekly.
After Heroic++:
Run heroic+ for maybe 4 to 7 days. Can start attempting heroic++ to get a feel.
Run heroic++ for maybe 7 days.
Run Toc10 weekly.
Anecdotally, I wasn’t able to reach crit cap until the 2nd week of naxx, so two weeks of world tours and 1 week of naxx before i finally got crit capped. I didnt need crit cap to run heroics.
Idk I don’t do heroics.
I do heroic+ on new toons.
Imagine doing heroics for ilvl200 gear.
Can’t be me.
You do H+ on fresh 80 tanks? I call BS.
Not to mention you said H++, I also specifically said what should a new player do to get into H++ or get into ToGC in a reasonable amount of time…
Why cant you just answer that question?
I guess he muted me. Ah well, have fun talking in circles with someone who isn’t willing to entertain anyone else’s view. In his mind, he doesn’t like it, therefore its a bad system.
I imagine a player like him would be even more upset if they put Ulduar10 man gear on normal heroics, as then it would be too easy of a catch up mechanic.
I did answer the question go read above.
Yes and when that system is out I will be going right to that system on a new character…
You just said join a group. So I get to 80 and then join a ToGC group as a prot paladin to tank it?
Read it more slowly I said join or make a group
I also said nothing about the raid
Thats the point of a catch up system, is to get into the current content in a reasonable amount of time. What am I just going to do the catch up systems to go run regular heroics? Thats the end point, to do the current content.
Well, I see you are just a troll… another one on the ignore list.
