Can’t help but see that all cosmic forces are evil. Black and white isn’t bad story telling, it can mix with morally grey. It just requires more work. Turning every cosmic force into evil or uncaring bad isn’t morally grey. If I wanted to play Warhammer, I’d play Warhammer, just seems Warcraft is heading into that grim dark path when it comes to cosmic forces.
Also playing through Legion as my warrior main at the time, Odyn in game doesn’t seem at all what his lore is portraying him as. It just seems another Stonetalon Garrosh 2.0 where the person in charge of Odyn didn’t get the memo that he was supposed to be a villain in the future. How many times does that happen I wonder.
Grey morality isn’t an automatic problem in storytelling. It’s how the real world works after all. God after all, tends to favor the side with superior firepower when He weighs in on a conflict.
The problem with bad writing is generally bad writing in general.
Didn’t say morally gray isn’t an automatic problem, but did say black and white isn’t bad, and that turning all cosmic forces into uncaring bad or evil is bad story telling.
Will add thoguh that it also seems black and white is avoided like the plague. Also don’t want Warcraft to turn into Warhammer.

Warcraft was supposedly originally supposed to be a Warhammer game before they lost the rights. But even when it became it’s own thing, treating cosmic entities -if they existed- being uncaring or bad/evil has always been the case in the Warcraft franchise. Even when the storytelling has been relatively good.
Especially when the storytelling was relatively good. Back in Warcraft 3, Elune was the only “true deity” and she was so distant and unknowable as to be a complete non-factor, There were rumors of old gods and titans, but nearly nothing else was known. Elementals were definitely not all too interested in the well being of mortals. And the Church of the Light was an agnostic/atheistic organization that didn’t actually worship any entity, but instead channeled the spirit of humanity/Light and talked about it the way Jedi do the Force.
The only real cosmic entities known wandering around back then were the mightier demons of the Warp Immaterium Twisting Nether.

It’s avoided because it’s flat and two-dimensional and more in the style of of archaic television and movies. And those of us who live in the real world are skeptical of grouping people into White and Black Hats.
