What is area52 like?

I work 2nd shift and in a small guild and noone is ever one when im on and horde on Ravencrest is really outnumbered by alliance, to the point where it gets frustrating trying to solo in Korthia so I am looking for another server and thought about transferring there. Is there often a queue to get in?

It’s a little better than Area 51, but not as good as Area 53.

If you’re looking for content realms on horde, yeah I would recommend Area 52 or Illidan.
In terms of friendly people, I do prefer Illidan though.

I’m not on A52 but I’m on a similarly large server.

Queues are extremely rare and only at the start of an expansion. But server stability has improved significantly with sharding and whatnot, so almost never an issue. I don’t remember queues for either BFA or SL. But A52 is a bit bigger than Frostmourne so maybe they get queues.

Population wise, a quick estimate using WoWprog and RaiderIO numbers puts A52 at around 20x the population of Ravencrest. But you’re not interested in dealing with Alliance, (which is 60% of Ravencrest population), so the Horde population of A52 (98/2 H/A) is roughly 30x the Horde population of Ravencrest.

Can’t speak for community wise, but on larger server you carve out your own in your guild and people you meet through playing.

Large server. Boost spam is constant. It’s EST so that might work for you

props to anyone who knows what the character name means, no googling!

Its worth switching to Area52. Switched 3 toons there before BFA, and now have 10 Horde toons, and no problems with Korthia.

Seems to be filled with a lot of trolls, tryhards, and elitists.

trolls as in race or as personality type?

the only thing i do not like about area 52 is the endless boost selling spam, it is extreme.

Personality type

i assume illidan has an equal number of douchebags? or statistically average

Just like any big server, just turn off trade. Theres never anything interesting for sale thats not already on the AH. If there is, its like only 50g cheaper anyways.

A52 is a cesspit like Illidan is. I switched to Dalaran and I really like it here, it is even kinda balanced out so I can have all my characters on one realm. Only 5-10 boost sellers, all the same ones so no problem /ignoring them. Community seems to always be chatting away about something and people seem to be friendlier. I just had to get off of A52 just a lot of jerks.

(please don’t take this post as they are all jerks there - there are some really awesome good people on A52… but even they don’t really like what they are surrounded by.)

Honestly, for the population size, I’d say it’s a lower percentage of douchebags than the average server. It’s always been super populated and Horde dominant but I don’t remember ever seeing a nice person on there. I might be biased though, because a girl I had the hots for was having a fling with a guy from Illidan and I hated him.

I will say this, though, because I just kind of realized it yesterday morning. I’ve been playing GTA Online again after a long hiatus and running into just toxic folk everywhere. I’ve had so many experiences with toxic people in WoW and Halo and Battlefield and just all these games. Any large number of strangers is going to have a lot of bad eggs. It’s inescapable. Even just interacting with people in the real world, you’re going to run into rude and mean ones. It’s just how people are.

Don’t let the bad apple spoil the bunch. Illidan is honestly probably fine. I can’t think of any one server that’s just total garbage. There’s always some decent people somewhere.

All my Horde toons are on Area52 (US), and I can’t recall the last time I actually had to wait in a queue to log on. Definitely was a shortish wait the day SL went live, but that’s a problem on any number of servers on opening day.

It’s a huge difference on Area52/Illidan. Players all the time. However fair warning the chat is… abysmal which shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s really bad.
